Hwy55 Burgers Shakes & Fries

I like going to Hwy 55 for a quick bite to eat. The food is good and hot and made just as I ask. I am always greeted as I walk in and also thanked as I leave. The staff is friendly and they work well together. What makes it even better is that I can use GetUpside to get a 15% discount on my food. I always love good food, good customer service, and good prices.

I had honestly never eaten at a HWY55 before and then when I went there I really wanted to be BLT but I'm allergic to all fish and shellfish. And they told me that they fry the bacon in the same grease that they fry all the fish related items in. So that was probably not going to be a good idea. But the waitress went and asked to cook and he was able to put it in a different thing that didn't have the fish exposed to it yet and I was able to have my BLT and that was wonderful. It was a delicious sandwich. And their fry portions were very generous.

This was our first trip.to Hwy 55. We are new to North Carolina and we don't have have these up north. At first blush, this to me was "poor mans" Johnny Rockets. The place we went to the Nashville location. It was a store front in a strip mall. The interior was quaint. It tried to capture the malt shop feel of the 50s. It did well. Service was super. I got a burger and the wife got a chicken cheesesteak. I got tots, she got rings. We were both very happy with the flavors and the portion size. I got a bacon, BBQ cheeseburger. The BBQ sauce was tangy but not overpowering. It was topped additionally with chili, onions and an onion ring. Both burger and tots were well seasoned. Tots we not oversalted. Very good. The wife enjoyed her chicken Philly. I tried an onion ring. Flavorful and well drained. We went for lunch. We were pleasantly full. Any larger portion would mean take home or overeating. Food was out quickly. Not fast food fast but fast enough. The whole experience made for a great lunch.

Great diner experience! Stopped to get off the interstate, but was gratified to see all the locals eating here as well. Kids are still playing with their car-shaped meal boxes and we all loved the 'Concrete' milkshakes! Great po-boy, big portions, good tots, friendly service. Definitely a good place to break up the trip!
