Every aspect of our dinner was perfect. Our waiter was just the right balance of friendly and helpful (we were not surprised to learn that he was the senior staff member). The bouef tartare, pate and foie gras were excellent. The cocktails were also amazing, and we found the perfect half-bottle of wine (great for a weeknight) to go with our entrees. Our booth was cozy and comfortable despite the dreadful cold outside. I can see this becoming a favorite spot.

Service is impeccable. Ambience is great and very cozy. My friend and I️ were done with our meal and just chatting - we didn’t feel rushed to get out. Food was good, drinks were good. I️ would definitely go back again. Easy to get to and good for groups, date night, or catching up with a good friend.

Pretty nice big cafe atmosphere, great service and delicious food. I'll definitely be coming again. The main floor reminded us a bit of Grand Central Terminal's lower floor, in a good way, probably because of the illumination and faux arches. The black label burger was great, and the french fries on the side were fried right. The ile flottante dessert was like eating a dream.

When Dale said we were going to a French Bistro on the corner of Bowery and Houston Street, I rolled my eyes…… Dale doesn't generally like French Bistros and I don't like to fight traffic with a half hour $18 taxi ride for that kind of dinner……..but, ok, our dinner guest lives in the neighborhood and the restaurant got a good review in the NY Times (generally another reason not to go). Cherche Midi was a pleasant surprise.........a large, square room designed to look the way it should (light of hand)...........a pleasant greeting from the folks in charge..........a nice table spaced so there's action but not close enough to make new friends………and you can hear each other talking even though the restaurant is designed with hard surfaces. Across the street from Whole Foods, the clientele looks it...........that's a good thing. Staff if plentiful, young, attractive and on the ball. Appetizers were terrific. Entrees workmanlike. If we lived in the area, we'd come all the time..........it's that kind of restaurant. As we don't, it's on the list when having dinner with people who do.
