Empellon

I couldn’t recommend this place enough! The food has so much flavor and the service was phenomenal. Everything from appetizers to desserts were delicious. Based on all the other reviews we decided to try the avocado dessert and it didn’t disappoint. Your eyes see an avocado, but your taste buds taste an amazingly sweet/tart dessert. I wouldn’t pass up on it. We can’t wait to be back ❤️

Was my first visit to this Mexican restaurant in NYC and it was a delightful culinary experience. Particularly impressed with the starter - guacamole, chips and the seven salsa dips. It was certainly a big hit with our group. The salsas were at varying degree of hotness and each was distinctively different from the other - a great experience. Also the "avocado" dessert which is a must have. The halibut I had was somewhat bland but combined with other savory stuff, it provided a balanced experience. Will highly recommend this place if one is looking for Mexican fare in midtown NYC.

Ate at the bar and enjoyed chips, quac, a selection of 7 salsas, multiple margaritas, mushroom tacos, fish tacos and the smoked black cod appetizer. Service was great, drinks were on point and food was fresh & tasty! As noted by many other reviewers, it’s very noisy inside. If you want to have a decent conversation expect to yell. But it’s a fun, lively atmosphere and the food this is good.

Empellon makes one of my all-time favorite fish tacos, which you can also order at their taqueria locations. We also really enjoyed the crab nachos and the surf and turf fajitas. The fajitas order was more than enough for 2 people and basically consisted of a massive ribeye, tortillas, and a few onions and peppers. The steak was perfectly cooked and came with a tasty black pepper salsa. They also make a tasty margarita.

Looking for tacos in nyc? This is the place. Two places for tacos that I love is Birrialandia and Empellon. Very different style but Empellon is really delicious. I odered a lunch set which comes with appetizer, main and a dessert (only for $45) and it was a HUGE deal! Starting with the salsa tasting, that was such a fun experience. For appetizer, I got the lobster salad, and this salad was not filled with veggies but filled with lobster and it was so tasty. The tacos were amazing and adding different salsas and guacamole made it perfect. Plus the dessert was refreshing for a hot day. The staff were so nice and always give us more chips if needed. Environment is pleasant and comfortable. Overall, go for it! Worth being int the NYT best 100 top restaurants in NYC.
