Lallisse Mediterranean Wine & Food

Traveling and visiting New York, walking around and stumbled into Lallisse for brunch after church at St. Patrick’s mass...this place is phenomenal! Brunch was 10/10 and most of our table all got different things. I always order Eggs Benedict for brunch and this is easily my favorite place now. Too bad I don’t live in New York! Everything is served in balanced portions, staff is wonderful, location and inside is gorgeous and open.

Went here with a group of four where we split everything. The beef kofte was easily the best item on the menu, but all of the food was delicious. We also got the dips (I liked the yogurt based one the most), lamb chops, lobster ravioli, a delicous goat cheese salad and some sides. I've also been once before for brunch when Penelope across the street had too long of a line. Definitely a worthy substitution.

Great place for conversations! Whether it's an evening glass of wine with friends, or weeknight dinner date. Lallisse is low-key with classy, clean look, featuring an excellent wine selection, a simple menu with both more substantial dinner options (lamb chops, amazing brussels sprouts), and small bites, friendly, hospitable staff... and fewer than average distractions. The music is pleasant without being overwhelming, and there is no TV and no hurry, which makes a wonderfully inviting atmosphere for long chats.

Everything about Lallisse is great. I love coming here. The waitstaff, like Bree, and the owner, Ozgar, are wonderful and enhance the experience provided by the superb food. The menu is a must try - I particularly like the menemen! The hummus is excellent as are the other pita dips (the greek dip is my favorite). The ambience is wonderful, and Lallisse has a high quality JBL sound system that plays a great selection of music. The restaurant itself is wonderful. The solid oak maple tables are a nice touch as well as the oak wood flooring. The bathroom is very clean and has high end fixtures. I highly recommend Lallisse for brunch, lunch, and dinner.

Planned to go to Penelope's for Sunday brunch but there was a long wait so we decided to try the quieter place across the street - and we're glad we did. Omelette and Signature french toast we're both delicious. Fresh greens and Turkish potato salad were a nice touch. Service was very good and we weren't rushed. A comfortable respite on a hot summer morning!

I moved to the neighborhood about six months ago and took my time to explore as many options as possible before settling on a list of favorites. Well, as of tonight Lallisse fully established itself in that list, and for some good reason. First of all, I should say that the neighborhood has some great restaurants to pick from, some rather stiff (and uninspiring?), some casual (and unreliable?). Yet Lallisse strikes a great balance between the two. It's a versatile place. It's the type of place where you could have an ideal first date, or a casual lunch with your colleagues from work, or a nice hassle free dinner with your family after a long work day. I've been here couple of times for brunch on sundays and it tends to be busy. Some of their many egg plates are very popular as far as i could see. I am not an eggy-brunch type of person, so my personal favorites have been the flavorful merquez and the selection of sides including a variety of great spreads and cheeses. It's a mostly egg-based brunch menu, but there is certainly enough to keep me happy and want to go back! That all said what seems to be grossly underappreciated at this spot is the dinner. There is a simple but very well selected menu, accompanied by a great selection of organic-to-biodynamic wines from all over the Mediterranean basin. After a handful of times I've had dinner at Lallisse these are my general observations: - food does not disappoint. Every time i've been here it was fresh and well done. i've also noticed that the chef tweaks the menu fairly often - which i tend to take as a sign of a good chef at work constantly working on improvements. - it is not a fast food restaurant where you order your food and leave in twenty minutes. It's a place where you go for good times in good company, and the food and the wine only help. - the ambiance and the music selection is spot on. sometimes i even felt like the person playing the music knew my mood for the day better than i myself did! - all waiters and waitresses are professional yet friendly at the same time. and what sealed the deal tonight? They added a hanger steak to the menu which could possibly be the best bang for the buck anywhere around kips bay/murray hill area. together with a nice pairing of wine, that's hard to beat!
