Red Egg

We were there today and overall it was pretty good. We had high standards coming from Vancouver which has very good Asian food and we weren’t disappointed. Food was good and service was good too. If I had gone with more people we would have ordered more dishes to try. Tried the pork buns, great. Shrimps rice rolls, very good. Pork and chives dumpling, great. Soup dumplings, very good. Always wanted to try those ones.

Red Egg is one of the very few Dim Sum establishments in NYC where you can make a reservation, which is how we ended up there. We were pleasantly surprised by the very good quality dim sum here! The service was good and restaurant clean. The only reason for a four versus a five was the traditional look and feel, but this certainly wouldn't stop me from returning. Save room for dessert!

Stumbled on this place based on Google Maps recommendation. And at first we were wary because it does not look like a restaurant let alone a Chinese Dimsum place from the outside. And the place inside is so unlike a Mott Dimsum place, it so clean and and I would not think its this dimsum if not for the Asian clientele. The food was great, the golden fried rice was great and not greasy at all. The dimsum was great, even the hot oil is hotter than usual. We got recommendations from a very affable and so helpful asian waitress. My friends and I, jaded new Yorkers, agreed that the food was on point but the service from that bubbly waitress was really exceptional.
