Whenever I am passing through Newcastle, I make sure it will be a Thursday, has the cathedral as live music. This cathedral is outstanding that it allows Street people to use this building for shelter, where they can use the toilets and get a hot drink. It also supports ex prisoners, with help to return to them to ther families-in my view outstanding! On a Thursday they have a group of musicians playing Irish music, anyone can join in and play from 2:00 till 4. This cafe must have the best selections of cake in Newcastle, yesterday I had a BLT sandwich, a large slice of lemon drizzle, and a pot of tea it was just £8. On my way out, I met 'carol'a volunteer lay person, she was in the main part of a church giving spiritual support to anyone, So with the support to prisoners and the local Street people, live music and beautiful cake , what are cracking vibrant place this cathedral is, it is somewhere to take the pressure off life, get spiritual support and a slice of cake!

Visited with my wife and we are still in awe of how beautiful and intricate the cathedral is. We were lucky enough to listen to the choir practicing and it moved us to tears how magnificent and beautiful it sounded. Frida was a very informative and insightful guide.

I went yesterday for the first time, I enjoyed walking around the very evocative displays on abuse and suicide, it's good that churches are providing this space, it was a peaceful and meaningful experience

An exceptional and welcoming part of Newcastles history. Well worth a look around or to spend some time here for a moment of peace. The walls and floors are covered in fascinating relics of the city’s past. (Don’t forget to look for the vampire rabbit behind the cathedral)

Really love this place. Everyone is always friendly and each time I visit I discover something new, either about the place or though an exhibition they are hosting

For sure an impressive cathedral. It's near to the castle and it is visible from far because of the tall lantern tower. On my point of view the most impressive thing is the vitro glass architecture. Scenes from Bible are depicted on the windows. In addition you may joy the organ that really can makes you feel awe.

My first time visiting a Cathedral and I’m in love.History is overflowing in this Cathedral it’s a must visit in New Castle plus it’s free. There is a few spot where you can donate money to maintain the cathedral and ensuring that the cathedral remains free for everyone. So do donate if you have spare change:)

Visited this beautiful medieval cathedral while on a short trip to Newcastle. It's close to the castle and has a tall lantern tower that for many centuries must have been a welcome sight to both travellers on land and sailors out on the river. The cathedral is free to enter, and I found it not only architecturally impressive but also very welcoming and inclusive. While I was here, visitors were invited to join in a short prayer, and there was some lovely organ music to listen to as I walked around. Enjoyed watching the video timeline, and there were interpretation boards outlining the cathedral's long and fascinating history. The wood carving in the choir stalls and the magnificent marble reredos behind the altar are so intricate in their detail, and there are also interesting old tombs and memorials, and some lovely stained glass, some of it medieval. There are toilets and a café where you can get light refreshments. I also enjoyed my walk along the churchyard trail, surrounded by the grand old buildings of the city. Well worth spending some time here.
