Slightly disappointed with this one, ordered fish supper to have by the sea, was looking forward to the traditional seaside treat. The batter on the fish was thick and stodgy and chips were soggy and soaked in a very watered down vinegar. Only thing I can say is that the staff were very busy and may have overlooked cooking times and batter thickness. would definitely give this place another go at a less busy time of day.

Quite possibly the best fish & chips I've ever had. I wish I'd taken a photo, but once I started eating I wasn't stopping. The batter was paper thin and crispy, no white fluffy stodge, just crisp batter coating beautifully fried fish. Same for the chips too, clean, fresh and so very tasty. No kidding, John Mac's is a must stop shop if you're in Newcastle.

Got takeaway here a few days ago. Cod supper and a portion of sausages . The food was very tasty and of good quality and quantity. My problem was with the sausages. A portion of sausages is 2 sausages, the same everywhere. Everywhere else I've been you either get about 10 chips or no chips with them, and this is usually reflected in the price. In John macs I got 2 chips! Yes 2 chips!. When I asked the girl she told me they were free. What an insult, her manner is not customer friendly. The portion was £2.30, a lot for 2 sausages oh and don't forget the 2 chips. My advice to John macs is either give more chips or don't give any at all. It really is an insult.
