The Spread

Great food, good service and decent prices. Went on a double date with some friends. The Brussels Sprouts and grilled oysters were absolutely delicious. The drinks were tasty. I was a little disappointed with the scallops, four medium scallops for $29...but overall had a wonderful experience. Will definitely be returning.

Brunch, was the best we have ever had. Could not find fault with the food or the servers. The French toast was incredible as was the dressing on the tossed salad. Other fabulous items were the pasta with spinach, the mushroom fritatta and the shoestring french fries,. All in all the food at the party we attended was the very best ever!!!!! Can’t wait to go back and try dinner! Thank you to the owner and staff! See you again soon. It is definitely worth the drive from New Haven!

We chose Spread to celebrate a very special occasion but they really disappointed. We had people in our group with faith based food restrictions. They were both served the dishes that they could not eat. This was despite checking with the server when the food was served who assured us that the dishes were as ordered. We also repeatedly requested our servers to switch on some additional light as our table was really dark and we could not see our food. After repeated requests we were finally told that they cannot switch on the lights as it would ruin the ambience. We then requested that they give us tableside light which seemed doable as they were a lot of candles in the restaurant. This was also denied and our party had to switch on our flashlights on our phone to finish our meal. They seemed very reluctant to try and improve the customer experience. Food was strictly okay which was unfortunate given the prices. Only positive were the drinks that were really well made.

The Spread is a perfect combo to go on a date or to gather with friends. Their layout provides the flexibility of both ! They have a lovely outdoor seating area arranged with a fireplace, and they also have a charming displace of small tables nestled in between dim lighting inside that is draped with What makes this place stand out is its various menu options. I love the fact that they offer a assortment of plate sizes. I personally never finish my meals when I go out to eat. I find the portions either too big or just too much of one flavor. I always prefer tapas type restaurants, only the small plates seem too small of a portion (and too expensive for the portion offered). However, the Spread provides a plethora of different flavors in their endless list of dishes. I’m the person who always finds the appetizer menu more appealing than the actual menu. So I find this place absolutely perfect for someone who wants to try a little bit of everything. P.S do not refuse the complimentary cornbread and sweet butter!

I have usually always had a great experience here, the atmosphere is lively and it's a great location. My friends and I came here on a Wednesday night this past week and it was not busy whatsoever. We felt as though we were being rushed by the staff as someone came over interrupting our conversations every few minutes to ask if we were done with our food or drinks. It was a different person every single time. Attentiveness is important but not every 2 minutes. It becomes annoying and makes your patrons feel rushed. Staff needs more organization or I'd give this place a better rating/review.
