Happy Bowl

While in Norwalk, I was in search of a place to fulfill my never-ending craving for Japanese food. Not really wanting to go to Yasai, I wandered into a tiny shop serving teriyaki, udon, and a small assortment of Japanese take-out. I wasn't expecting much from this place, the dining area was rather dingy and its exterior looked like the typical strip mall Asian food place, so unimpressive. I ordered a simple grilled chicken teriyaki bowl. The service was friendly and I got my food about a minute after ordering, so speed was certainly not an issue here. The food, while not great, wasn't terrible either. The chicken was a bit thin and dry and the sauce was a tad strong, although maybe I'm too used to homemade, but it all could have been worse. The one thing I really appreciated was the veg, it was fresh, not frozen junk. Crinkle cut carrots and a few broccoli crowns, which could have been steamed another minute, but they were fresh and Happy Bowl scored major points in my book for that. Overall, not a place you'll go out of way for, but you can definitely do worse.
