Napoli Trattoria & Pizzeria

This restaurant has moved from Montclair, to Nutley and now is back in Montclair on Park Avenue. Quaint Trattoria with attached pizzeria. Pizzeria was quite busy … the restaurant had quite a few tables open but it was the night before Thanksgiving and we went to dinner early. Started with calamari and mussels in pesto sauce. The mussels were fantastic and would have loved to have the sauce over some pasta! Next came entrees: most of us had the seafood risotto special which had clams, mussels, scallops and lobster. Other entrees were ravioli and rigatoni with bolognese sauce. All were good but not as good as that pesto sauce we had as an appetizer. Finished with dessert: cannoli, tartufo and profiterole. The profiterole were not fresh and would prefer a custard filling. I would recommend skipping them. Dinner for 6 including tip (not alcohol- it’s a byob) was close to $600.

Unprofessional and poor customer service. We come here several times a week as it’s close to my son’s gym and swim class. Today, our pizza was placed in a bag. I inquired about the box we normally receive and was told it cost .50 even though I saw other customers leaving with boxes without requesting one. I was told everywhere is now charging for boxes and bags. When we got home the top of the bag was soaked with grease from the pizza. I had to separate the cheese from the bag. Needless to say, I will not be returning to eat here again.

Nice spot conveniently located on Park and Bloomfield Ave, next to the YMCA. Probably the best lunch deal in the area if you eat in. Lunch menu is large. And the specials come with soup or salad, and a scoop of ice cream all for $ 11.99. The specials include wraps, sandwiches, hot pastas and meals. Service was great. We were the only people seated inside. The soup of the day was Pasta Fagioli. It was very good, but not too heavy to ruum your appetite for lunch. One of us had a salad. It looked terrific, and they really loved the dressing. The meals were good size for such a deal. I'll definitely be back.

Almost every time I order from here, they somehow screw it up, usually either forgetting something, or it just not being very good. Their portions are pretty big which is a plus, and they do have good calzones, but some of their sandwiches leave much to be desired. A tuna melt for example is served on a long roll, and a hard one at that, with un-or barely melted cheese, that all falls apart the moment you bite into it, probably because your not supposed to serve tuna melts on hard long rolls, good thing they included a fork. Ordering from here is very hit or miss. 2—3 stars.😒 Napoli in Montclair
