I almost didn't go to Takara because of the negative reviews, but I'm so glad I ignored them and took a chance. I don't know what any of those negative reviewers were talking about. The food was EXCELLENT!! Hibachi is so much fun! The portions were huge and we all received evenly served portions, as you can see in my photos (1 of which was taken after I took several bites of steak and vegetables). Everything was flavored beautifully and nothing needed extra seasoning. We ordered sushi appetizers, a cocktail and hibachi entrées. We asked for water and were offered a choice of tap or bottled. Kosher food is always more expensive but that is expected. The prices were on par with other kosher hibachi and you will pay the same or more for kosher steak anywhere. The mashgiyachs even placed the meat on the hibachi grills themselves! Usually in restaurants you never even see the mashgiyach so it's nice to know that they are actively involved in making sure your meal is handled properly. As hibachi is so much fun for kids, I would like to see them add a children's menu. We had to order my kid an adult meal, but leftovers will be enjoyed tomorrow! We moved to NJ from NY just under 2 years ago so we have very high standards when it comes to restaurants and food, and Takara does not disappoint!

They have a really nice setup with a fountain near the entrance. It all really sets up the mood for a good dinner. Sadly, the food wasn't 100%. I'm not sure if it was because we sat at a regular table instead of hibachi, although that shouldn't matter either way, but the miso soup was room temperature. The temperature problem with food continued on with everything else. Portions of food were cold, other parts were a bit warmer. The only thing that was perfectly piping hot was the rice. It's as if the food was put in a microwave and not heated all the way, which is a same because the food tasted good otherwise. One of the scariest parts of the meal though was the room temperature sushi. Sushi shouldn't be warm.

So beautiful place . Friendly staff very nice management especially they have vegans hibachi special .we ordered vegan shrimp poke bowl for appetizer so....yummy. Then we ordered vegan shrimp . Beef and vegan scallop are great taste . Love it . We will be back to try more vegan specials thanks Takara

Whenever I personally go the place is dead which is fabulous because our food comes out very quickly. The sushi and sashimi are always fresh and presented in a beautiful form. Their koifish pond with bonsai is a beautiful relaxing view especially with the waterfall built in it. This place has a full bar as well and their cocktails are delish. Overall I love their food, the speedy service and the atmosphere. Totally recommend dining in as they also have hibachi.
