Vidlak's Brookside Cafe

This is a really great option for breakfast food. The prices are very reasonable and probably a bit better considering the amount of food you can get for the money. The service was friendly and efficient. The staff moves with purpose. There isn't typically a long wait time. As much as I'd day the food is great, I probably wouldn't get it delivered. I don't think it would be the same. They nailed the hometown diner feel.

Update: for the first time ever, our food wasn't great. The hash browns were barely cooked and very greasy, the bread of the Philly was stale and the cheese and flavor were lacking. Hopefully it's just an off day because Vidlak's has become a family favorite over the years! Update: everything is still just as great as always! This time I tried the Eggstacy minus the bacon and it was pretty amazing. Eggs, cheese, lettuce tomato and mayo on marbled rye toast. Always excellent service and amazing comfort food! We eat here every chance we get. I highly recommend the Garden Egg and Potato Casserole or the Chicken Philly Sandwich (add jalapenos)! The Cinnamon French Toast is like heaven on Earth with a hot cup of black coffee! To make it even better, they accept the Pinpoint app to earn free food. 😁

1st time, Highly recommend, food was absolutely perfectly cooked, taste was delicious, coffee great, presentation like a king and queen, technique of serving awesome (coffee server only, helpers) allows waitresses to focus on serving. Nicely price family friendly. I will be back. Go ahead indulge and try this place, you will not be disappointed.

I had recently gone to three other restaurants for breakfast. Two of them brought me over easy eggs when I ordered the eggs over hard. The "hash browns" were like mashed potatoes that had been put briefly on a grill. The food was lukewarm. The breakfast burrito at another establishment was a disgrace. This morning, I went to Vidlak's. The order of eggs over hard with sausage patties and hash browns was cooked to perfection and brought to my table in less than 5 minutes. The quality of the food and the preparation was outstanding. The food and coffee were hot. Service was fantastic. My breakfast at Vidlak's restored my faith in dining out and in humanity itself. I can't see going anywhere else for breakfast in Omaha...

Looking for down home "comfort" food, with affordable pricing? Bring your family and friends to Vidlak's Brookside Cafe. This is my go to breakfast place for meeting family and friends. Come early for breakfast or arrive later for lunch but don't hesitate because they are only open till 2:00. No reservations are needed and when there is a crowd, the wait is usually short (10-15 minutes). Servers are amazing and greet you with a cup of coffee and a glass of water within a minute after you are seated. Your order is always correct and the food comes out hot and guick after you order. I've had the cinnamon roll that covers your dinner plate with delightful pastry slathered with warm frosting. The cinnamon french toast is awesome as well. I've had the brookside muffin which is a slice of ham, scrambled eggs with cheese on a toasted english muffin. But my new favorite is the breakfast BLT sandwich with a hard fried egg on toasted marble rye bread with a side of hash browns that are crunchy on the outside and cooked perfectly on the inside. Check them out, you won't be disappointed.

A wonderful breakfast joint, just as it should be! Surprisingly, the inside is a lot bigger than it appears so there was zero wait time for a Saturday morning at 10:30am. The food was delicious! I only gave it a 4 because I wish the coffee had been a little better. The service was sweet and kind and the atmosphere was open and welcoming. Will be back for sure!
