Ola Cocina

The food is good and that is perhaps this restaurant's saving grace, but definitely not enough to have us come back. This is a tiny (albeit very cute) restaurant with few tables but it still took 45 minutes just to get table water. We spent our evening trying to get our servers' attention (two of them) and waited over an hour for our food - we were starving. My partner's tacos came out cold. There was a total lack of care of concern for their diners. It would also be such a plus if tables were cleaned between guests and if hand sanitizer was provided at each table. There are so many amazing Mexican restaurants in Ottawa to choose from, this is not one i would revisit.

Their decor was insanely vibrant and full of character, I was mesmerized from the second I stepped in the door and instantly fell in love with their charming atmosphere. We got their enchiladas and a taco platter 🌮 , both served with Mexican rice & black beans! They were all freshly made and so flavourful! You have the options of grilled chicken, pulled pork, beef and veggie to choose from for enchiladas. The portion for the enchiladas was really generous, so I definitely recommend getting that if you are looking for something filling. As for the taco platter, you get to choose any 3 tacos from the menu- we had spicy fried chicken, cochinita pibil (pulled pork), and pulled beef. 😋 Note that there is limited seating at this hole-in-the-wall-feel restaurant, but we were seated right away. Authentic Mexican cuisine, not Americanized, which is so nice. Amazing taco trio deal - 3 for $21 so I could try a variety of them. Friendly, welcoming staff. They accommodated my no onions of any kind (also marked on receipt & mentioned twice with asterisks so cooks were well aware and wouldn't miss it) without looking down on me for it! I'll come back for sure!

I LOVE Ola Comida the bring take home food is INCREDIBLE and I love how inventive Donna is with her Shepherds Pies. I can't say I ever have had the same one twice and I would be very disappointed if I had every thing is always slightly different and that is what I like best about the food. Consistent quality, always a change in flavor and ALWAYS DELICIOUS.
