Golden Crust Pizzeria

I was pleasantly surprised at how good the pizza was, and how loaded the toppings were. You also get the "local business" feel from this pizza shop. I walked in to place my order and waited in my car. They quoted me 20-minutes, so I just figured I'd wait in my car and go back inside to get the pizza in 20-minutes-- but the guy actually walked outside to bring me my pizza when it was ready. I don't know what it is, but it's little things like this that you only really see at local businesses, and it goes a long way. I digress though. Like I said, the pizza is great. Similar style to Gabriel or Louis-- which is a thicker and heavy topping sort of pizza. I don't know if it's a limited time thing or not, but they have a $12 walk-in special for a large 1-topping pizza, which is a great deal. I'm sure I'll order from here again.

Long wait for a disappointing meal. There was no one else there when we placed our order and for some time afterward so I'm not sure why it took almost 40 minutes. The pepperoni was not pepperoni- it was a cheap pepperoni substitute that looked and tasted like bologna. It was also under the cheese, so removing it meant removing all the toppings. Despite asking for the pizza to be made "easy on the sauce", there was so much sauce that it was dripping off the pizza. The crust was the only acceptable part. I feel like ordering a plain cheese pizza might not have been bad but there are much better pizza places in the area for a comparable price so it is unlikely we will be back.

I'm starting to get really discouraged by the pizzerias in Ottawa. This place was... a disappointment. The wings were great, crispy and nicely cleaned. The pizza... Oh the pizza. All we wanted was a nice large pepperoni pizza and they committed the ULTIMATE of pizza sins; placing the pepperoni under the cheese. Nothing like some super undercooked pepperoni to ruin your pizza. Although, I suppose they did this to hide their shameful grocery store sub meat trio pack quality pepperoni (yuck)
