Hintonburger

Good location w/ lots of indoor/outdoor seating, unfortunate product. I LOVE BURGERS. So to rate an establishment 2/5 stars hurts, especially when it's a local eatery with a cool name and friendly staff. The 'Hintonburger' (their signature) was a huge disappointment. The 6 oz. (locally sourced, organic) patty was ok, as was the bacon, but that's where it stopped. The minuscule & blah bun wasn't fresh, nor unique in taste or texture. The fries were ok, but under-cooked for being fresh-cut(?) Complete it with a can of pop, and for $15 I'd rather eat elsewhere. To be utterly Canadian: sorry folks!!

Food was overall average. The burger patty was well done and the toppings seemed fresh but overall it was hindered by an extremely disappointing bun. I can only describe it as a day old bun maybe. Fries were excellent. But perhaps the most bizarre thing about this place is the interior. Very unconventional and inconvenient ordering system. There's a small desk where you order. The menu is located above in tiny print so you can only read it when you get up to order. The staff then write your order down and run it to the kitchen in the back where the cooks then bring it out for you. On that note the staff did not look like they wanted to be there. No one was friendly or smiling or anything. Overall I probably won't be back.

I got the veggie burger combo and had some mixed feelings. The fries were some of the best fries I ever had, and the drink was preserved cold even through the uber eats journey. However, the burger was extremely greasy and not a good mix of ingredients. That might be partly my fault for including pickled vegetables, but I found that the flavour was too sour with the oily bun and patty. The patty was falafel-inspired but far too crumbly. It fell apart as I ate it. Great fries but maybe skip out on the veggie burger if you don’t like extremely greasy foods.

The resto has an overall comfy feel with nice, interesting decor but a bit chilly in the winter. The menu choices were rather limited; however, I was told they were having issues with a supplier. I ordered the Hintonburg combo with a side of gravy. It was good but, imo, not worth almost 20$. My main disappointment was the 40 minute wait for my takeout order because they forgot about my order but I was refunded fully which was really quite generous of them.

They make amazing burgers! Their beef is always made fresh and cooked to order, so be ready to wait a few minutes when you place your order, this is not fast food service. In fact, their burgers are sooooo good, they often close early because they've sold out. On the rare days when they have a few leftover burgers, they donate it instead of throwing it away. Browse the Parkdale Market for other goods or take your burgers to the nearby park/playground where there's plenty of benches and picnic tables. Be sure to check their website/Facebook as their hours change throughout the year. Note too they only take cash payments.

It was clean when I walked into the restaurant. I was curious of this place as it's not too far from work and from some of the reviews I had read. Good and bad. Both my partner and I were greeted and served in a timely manner and received our food fresh and hot. The prices are comparable to any other burger joint, the only difference to me is that Hintonburger is worth the money. Would definitely go back to eat on another payday. One concern is that there wasn't a mat at the door to dry your boots so the floors could pose a potential hazard to customers.
