The French Baker

If you are looking for a croissant or chocolate croissant, this is the place for you. They serve Illy type of coffee which is great and the space is painted a winter white with some black accents around the space creating a clean feeling. They have a little bar seating area at the window which is nice when the window is open in the warmer months.

I've been coming here for years. And there are pros and cons. There isn't enough chairs when it's busy. However their coffee and croissants make up for that in spades. The atmosphere is much better under new management and all the girls are very friendly. The place could use a fresh coat of paint but it is a well kept secret of the glebe!

My first try at this review did not go through, hit the wrong button. We were so excited to try the bakery again this morning. Been 2yrs since the last time. So 8:30 we arrived to load up on pain au chocolat and headed home. To our surprise the first bite was just like biting into a day old pain au chocolat. In Paris your local bakery would never sell day old products to customers. It was so hard and dense you had to microwave for 10sec to soften it enough to eat. Maybe living in Paris for 2 yrs we were spoiled but if you're going to call your self a French Baker then you should have the same standards. So disappointed this morning :(

They NEVER have any sandwiches left even though it is not even NOON yet . Recently went there thinking i would get a soup, again there was no soup left at 12:15. On top of that the girl that works there is extremely rude. By the way be prepared to pay 6.50$ for a sandwich that usually only has half a piece of meat on it. If I didn't love their croissants i would never go there again.

It is not a bakery. It is a warehouse. The batch of all viennoiserie is from another location and im pretty sure they get the leftovers from past days. Old, dry and hard. Wallmart seems to be their only competition If you do not bake on premises do not claim to be a bakery. Have a great day and breakfast somewhere else
