Steak 'n Fries

I’m an out of state visitor and I stopped here for a quick bite and boy I was in for a TREAT! Steak sandwich was absolutely DELICIOUS, the fries were TOP NOTCH and lightly salted which was perfect. The pictures in this review don’t do justice compared to how great the food is! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Trust me on this.

Decent. The Philly was very very skimpy on meat. I was excited to try it. But not kidding you I had enough meat for maybe just half the sandwich. I got the 12 inch. The fries were excellent. But very disappointed that there was zero meat. And overloaded in Mayo and all I could taste. All 3 sandwiches we ordered that were 12 inch were very skimpy. Would not recommend.

This place is amazing! It is plainly shown as a favorite each time I get them by the long lines and consistent business they always have. The workers/staff are all professional, helpful, and make the orders fresh for each customer in a timely manner. The cost is slightly higher than your average fast food restaurant, but the flavor and delicious quality of the food will quickly have you forgetting the cost. Also the food is portioned well and is quite filling! 5 stars, excellent job! **For the neat and clean freaks out there, this establishment has always appeared well organized, clean, and sanitary in all aspects. (You'll be safe.) Masks worn while ordering and picking up food.

I was in Peoria working and we sent for take out so I can't comment on the atmosphere or ambiance of the premises. I can say our food was ready when we went to pick it up and everyone's order was correct. I ordered the gourmet ham sandwich and gourmet it was. The best tasting ham I have ever had in a sandwich. It included swiss cheese, crushed pineapple, mayo, lettuce, and tomato as well. French fries were good and plentiful. I would definitely recommend the gourmet ham sandwich.

I have ordered from this restaurant 2 times through GrubHub and each time my order was either cancelled or the food still was not delivered after 1.5 hours when I was waiting to go out of town. I just tried to place another order and the restaurant cancelled on me and refuses to deliver to me because of the issues GrubHub has had. They said twice the order has been cancelled so they won’t serve me? I even talked to the staff and they said the owner said it was due to the 2 cancelled orders from GrubHub. I have no control over what GrubHubs dashers do and have had multiple order cancelled on me while I’ve been waiting. Extremely disappointed with the service and discrimination. I will NEVER order delivery or dine in here again.

Review Visit: March 14th, 2016 What do you think I ordered at Steak & Fries? If you guess some steak with a side of fries, you’d be incorrect. What did I order on this sunny spring day? I honestly don’t remember. Between looking at my photos and looking at the website/online menu, I can usually guess what I order. Not this time. Let’s take a journey as I try to remember. Based on the photo below, it appears that one of the things I ordered was a BLT but its on a hotdog bun. Yup, I am not making that up. That’s exactly what it looks like. The other item I ordered was another BLT maybe with chicken instead of bacon? A CLT also on a hotdog bun. Weird. I couldn’t even begin to guess what the other stuff on the menu would look like once served. Tacos on a hamburger bun? Pizza topped with ice cream? Who knows! The restaurant is located in CampusTown in Peoria. This area is full of eager college freshmen dodging traffic, the worst intersection in history and a ton of local restaurants. CampusTown specifically has a countless number of places to eat and Steak & Fries is one of them. The name is generic, the food is served in non-traditional ways and the taste was… pretty good. That I do remember. My girlfriend and I were taken back by the unusual way food was presented and then we were taken back by how good it was despite the oddity of it all. You can see on their website that our unique experience isn’t so unique and is just who they are. If you know me, I am a fan of oddities. I’ve done some strange stuff over my lifetime and tries even stranger things. Nothing illegal. Just going against the grain to try old things in new ways and new things in old ways. So, I have a small soft spot for this visit as it was definitely one to reflect on and laugh about. I’ve kind of gone off my normal trail with this post. In the end, if you are in need of something different that won’t break the bank, check out Steak & Fries for something different.
