The Local Shack

So understanding that it was a Sunday and also all the issues with finding staff. I saying that though the drinks couldn't be poured properly so was left short on the pint Or had ordered, offered a replacement - my choice however the next same price beer was also having issues. The place also always seem to have a farm smell like a sheep shack or something was like this a few months ago also and not sure if this is legit or a test store ambience of sorts. Food. Was okay nothing that gives it a memorable spark that you can brag about later, we had the Caesar salad and had no option - even for anchovies. The chicken buttermilk was good, fresh and crunchy. Bit bland though.

I try to be as accomodating as possible to eateries in this covid climate, but sometimes restaurants just seem to not even try. Came in Tues aft 230pm hungry for a late lunch, disappointed there was no waffles left (you just need flour, egg, milk, sugar? Can no one in your restaurant make waffles?) So went for a chicken parmi on special, even with the discount it felt like a rip off, the chicken was absolutely scorched, had to peel the brown black breading off to get to dry chicken inside. Only masked edible by the tomato sauce and cheese. The tasteless chips were an interesting duotone of half over-fried/ double-fried brown and half pale. Its very insulting to think your customers dont know what youre doing, refrying old chips. The beer battered fish was completely tasteless. No, it tasted bitter. Its like the fish was rinsed of the meat fibres. This is the kids fish and chips, also served with a mixed of dark brown chips and half pale chips. The one star is for the fact that i was able to sit down after a big morning while kids got entertained by the arcades, the second star was for the staff that was actually quite friendly, but honestly why wouldn't you, when all the other competition are packed after lunch and there was almost no one in yours. Reason why i walked into the restaurant? Alone with kids i picked something less busy. Why i stayed and didnt complain abt my meal? Couldnt be bothered, dead tired - chances are excuses will be made or the same thing will be served.

Went in for dinner and ordered there "Crikey let's eat" platter to serve my family of 4. First I'll start with serving size which was enough to hold back to very hungry teenage boys, myself and my wife so a huge plus there. Service wise, the food was delivered promptly after ordering and freshly cooked. Lastly the food itself was delicious, the platter covers a wide array of tastes from Burgers and loaded fries, to Ribs and Hot Wings. All were delicious, and being that the single platter served the whole family made for quite and affordable and delicious dinner.

Came during lunch on Tuesday. No other customers so I thought the food should be pretty good and not rushed. We didn't order much. Just three of us so three burgers and three drinks. First mistake was forgetting to bring out one of the drinks. Secondly my brother specifically asked for the "burger with the egg". Burger came out...they forgot the egg. The other two burgers we got were royals with cheese. So much mustard it was dripping out. Could hardly see any tomato sauce (maybe they ran out?) Thin patty, massive thick pickles. Was basically a pickle and mustard burger. I love the look of the place. Great booths and games. Sadly the service and food left me very disappointed. Won't be coming back.

I quite like the concept, the retro arcade games and pool table were fun. The food was reasonable. Despite not having a couple of the menu items we ordered, the service (and alternatives offered) were good. The waitress who served us was really friendly and attentive. I'd go back here but only if I was in the area, not something I'd leave home for in a hurry. Makes a decent burger and caesar salad. Decent.

If zero stars were an option, I would've chosen that for this establishment. The staff was so lazy and unorganised that after 20 minutes of waiting they forgot to even make the drinks that we had ordered because they were on their phones. The sweet potato chips were burnt and when handed to us was just thrown at us rather than placed nicely. Seagulls were flying in and attacking the tables that had been left dirty for at least 15 minutes. The staff even when we walked in and tried to order just ignored us and kept talking between themselves. On an overall I don't understand why this establishment should still be running and serving people with the health and safety standards being so poor.

They treat their staff horribly, over working their underage staff for even double shifts with no breaks and then wonder why they're understaffed? Not allowed to go on break. Treat your workers better and maybe you wont be. Got literally warned from so many people not to work there because of their reputation on how they treat staff. Do better.
