Royal Tavern

Food is delicious. Recommend the royal burger, comes with fries or side salad for $16 which seems pricey for a burger but it is worthhh it. Service is great, fast and friendly. They just updated the interior of the place, which has lightened it up and it’s a nice touch, was very dim before. Only con about the place is tables can be wobbly.

Vegan isn’t my go-to but Royal Tavern had very good reviews, I found a great parking spot, loved the bar back board and they have beer. This was my 3rd vegan ‘cheesesteak’ and probably my favorite. I would have liked it more but my roll was cut on a weird angle and it made it hard to eat. Very flavorful and more importantly not overdone trying to hide blandness of ingredients attempt at flavorful. Nice chat with guy next to me that just moved to Swarthmore helped easy the pain of a $23 (pre tip, one beer) lunch bill.

Incredible Appetizers, Dinner, and Dessert. We had the Grilled Cheese w/bacon and a cup of tomato basil soup for dipping and the Royal Burger. Great service by Nour. She was very attentive and always had our water glasses full without having to ask. The BEST was the CHOCOLATE CHIP BREAD PUDDING A LA MODE!!! WOW!!!! See the photo! 👍

I've been going to the Royal for years...and it is always consistently delicious. Their cocktails are on point, their ambience is dark and the rock n roll on the juke box is perfect and their food...omg, their food...the BEST burger in the city and their fries with malted mayo is heaven. I love going because I know I'm always going to get some seriously great, no frills food and drinks at a fair price. Go and I promise you will not be disappointed.

I went here after This is Hardcore and the food was quite good. The spicy greens were surprisingly tasty, but the vegan cheesesteak was why I visited. The cheese was just how I remembered on the real thing, but the seitan chunks did not emulate like I would like, but it was delicious nonetheless. Brian was a great server, fun, and prompt with great suggestions. I will be back next time I visit home, for sure.

Lots of vegan choices. Vegan Philly cheese steak voted best in Philly - to be honest, it doesn't taste necessarily like a cheese stake but it does state great, if it had its own name ! Same for the sloppy joes and the nachos. Everything was great including service. Very friendly waitress/ bartender.
