Max's Steaks

NO SEATING. Half sub $11, whole $20. A hole in the wall type joint in north Philly. One half cheesesteak joint, another half seemed to be a bar area. Not sure if they serve food. Cheesesteak was awesome and what you’d expect from a classic cheesesteak. Staff knew what they were doing and probably get huge numbers during busy season. Would definitely get a cheesesteak from here again.

My experience here was just about as good as it could get. All the people inside are very friendly. It was near shift change and they squeezed us in so we didn’t have to wait. We all greatly appreciated that. Everything went smooth and the food was great. The bread was not soggy, it was pretty fresh. Would recommend to anyone. Might have trouble parking that’s about it. Great spot 👍

This time we went here and it was packed. We waited an hour and a half but trust me when I tell you.....it was well worth it. We have a comparison with a different cheesesteak place and there was no competition they have a great taste and flavor. The steak was seasoned and well proportioned with meat to cheese ratio. Will always go back as long as the quality is good.

I like this place I do like how fast they can move. It's just I believe in kindness and they showed me just that when serving the food and asking about my order. I don't like loud noises so the person on the grill chopping the meat up made my head start spinning and I got sick on their line do to the banging noises on the grill but they offered me a seat which was kind and nice of them. For that I give them all five stars because of the effort to show empathy, kindness and allowing me to keep my dignity when in there place of business.

For a nice late night stop there was certainly a good line to wait in. Steak was perfect; pickles, American cheese, and cheese whiz. They pretty much slathered the roll with whiz. The meat was cooked together with the American and everything went nicely in a tasty roll. Added pickles. I needed a break from the hot peppers personally. They have a traditional beer selection and what looks like old school cocktails. I would have this over Dallesandros, Pats, or Genos. They had a very nice meat and onion pile going and just the perfect speed that night!

I enjoy Max’s cheesesteak’s . Their ALWAYS fresh!!! For that reason Be prepared to wait. I would suggest you figure out what you want on your America’s before you go because the staff is moving fast and you will hold up the line. That will get you some serious attitude from the staff and people on line. The store itself isn’t very nice and needs some cleaning up. But the food is delicious and you can meet people from all over while you wait. It’s a good spot for take out, it’s a experience well worth trying!
