Definitely tourist spot but not tourist trap. When I went it wasnt super hectic and crowded ordered on doordash and was prepared quickly. Good quality meat, wished they loaded me up more on the cheese (maybe their competitors could've help me with that) but its quality lives up to their fame and I can't say more than that. If you come make sure to ordered online because there are two windows: one for online orders and in person orders. The latter had a very long line of tourists but the online order was barren, great for people like me.

Wanted to try one of the famous cheesesteak places with my daughter who is in school In the area. Very little parking and you may walk a bit or drive around depending on day and time. Service was quick one window for cheesesteaks other for other food like fries and merch. Overall were solid cheesesteaks a bit greasy. Want to try some others too. Can only eat outside so as weather is colder know that

Great experience at Geno’s for my first Philly cheesesteak. Got the steak w/ provolone. Pat’s has condiments available at a stand for self service. Order sandwich at “first window” / closest to intersection. Order everything else at the next window.

I had the whiz with onions and peppers. It was excellent! Service was very quick. It was not too messy. Very tasty! Plenty of tables outside. Very clean. Bonus, the cannoli shop next door!

This was my first time eating at Geno's. I ate at Pat's for the 1st time just minutes earlier. Geno's was a dollar cheaper than Pat's per cheesesteak, and Geno's cheesesteak was slightly larger (bread) with a little more meat. Mine didn't have quite as much Cheese Whiz on it as my sandwich from Pat's. I think that contributed to my sandwich seeming a little dry. I figure that it all depends on who's cooking on any given day, whether it's Pat's or Geno's. The staff was friendly, and I am thrilled that I can say that I ate there. I have family that moved in the area, so I look forward to my next visit!

Geno's Steaks in Philadelphia is undoubtedly an iconic spot in the city's culinary landscape. Situated right across from its equally famous rival, Pat's, it's a must-visit for anyone seeking an authentic Philly cheesesteak experience. However, I must admit that when it comes to the classic Philly cheesesteak battle, my personal preference leans towards Pat's. While Geno's certainly has a dedicated following and is always bustling with activity, I found their cheesesteaks to be a bit on the dry side compared to the juiciness I've experienced at Pat's. Don't get me wrong; Geno's serves up a solid cheesesteak, and their fame is well-deserved. The atmosphere and history surrounding the place are undeniably part of the appeal. Still, if you're like me and enjoy a cheesesteak that's dripping with flavor and goodness, Pat's might be your go-to spot. In the end, the rivalry between Geno's and Pat's is a fun part of Philadelphia's culinary culture, and it's worth trying both to see which one suits your taste buds best. For me, it's Pat's that holds the cheesesteak crown in this legendary rivalry.

Worth the trip just for this cheesesteak? No. Worth trying it? Yes! There isn’t really anything too special in their Philly cheesteak - they use good cheese and beef slices. Really cool place to have it tho. I heard fries are quite good.

I don't know if you can visit Philadelphia for the first time and not visit the most iconic places the city has to offer. We ventured to the corner where Geno's sets up shop. I'm not really a cheesesteak kind of gal but the sandwich was tasty. The customer service was top notch. Even though they have to get your order in and on to the next, our server was very friendly and seeing that we were tourists, gifted us a ball point pin. My experience here was lovely.

Very delicious authentic Philly Cheesesteak and love that it’s open 24 hours. We got one from here and then one from Pat’s. Honestly we felt Pat’s had way more cheese and the meat was seasoned a lot more then Geno’s! Another downfall is Geno’s doesn’t take cards. Sorry but nowadays you need to take cards! Multiple people got out of line once they heard them saying no cards. Go to Pat’s Geno’s is to skimpy on toppings and not as good service / not taking cards.

I hate to say it but it’s better than Pats. They make everything fresh and they actually have a vegetarian steak option. Overall an enjoyable experience. It gives you want you want from a steak. It’s open 24 hours. It’s sparkling clean. Say what you want about other places having the best cheesesteaks in Philly, those places all close at 6:30pm. This place gives you the goods when you really want it — after a night of drinking!
