Square One Coffee

Quality of the beverages and baked goods is excellent. I've been here at least 20 times in the past half a year and have never had a poor experience with my purchases. Nice atmosphere, although the materials used in design of the space can sometimes make the room a bit louder than you might like - especially if people near you are having a conversation that includes lots of back and forth laughter. Still, it's much quieter than most other coffeeshops in the area and it's a great place to enjoy an iced coffee or a latte while you read or get some work done. Outdoor tables are very nice and somewhat corralled off from the sidewalk with a short fence, but you need to be careful about leaving ANY items on the tables - as there is the potential for someone walking by and swiping a phone right off a table and running away. Small fee ($0.10) is added to your purchase if you pay with any payment type other than cash. I can see why they have to do this as Square changed their fee structure recently, but maybe it'd just be easier to raise all the prices by maybe 5 or 10 cents and not have an extra add on fee - just seems petty.

Good coffee and large pastries in an open space. Plenty of seating and apparently outlets based on number of cords I can see. The prices are not bad, quite standard for coffee shops. I did not taste the overly bitter flavors other reviewers noted. On service I will note that you need to specify for here or they default it as to go (several people in line had to later clarify). The barista at the machine was doing a very exacting job of weighing and tapping and pouring the shots which can be very nice however orders were piling up. I can't comment it as a bad thing, because no one seemed to be that in a rush but I hope they have a little faster service during rush hour. Since time was not an issue I appreciate the precision of getting a good pour.

There is nothing special about Square One. But maybe that is why I love it so much. Square One is a great place to sit and get work done. The food and coffee are reasonably priced for the location and I usually have no problem finding places to sit. I always go to Square One if I am in need of a quick meeting space or to get work done. Be careful on the weekends. It isn’t quite the studious atmosphere that I love. People tend to be louder and it gets more crowded. However, Monday-Friday I really like to work there.
