Southgate Philly

The food here is awesome. The cuisine is Korean comfort food. I had the kimche burger and south gate fries. The burger was perfectly cooked and was amazing! The south gate fries were awesome and should not be missed. I had mentioned to our server that I wanted to try the burger but I wanted to come back for the Korean fried chicken. After our meal our server brought out 2 pieces of fried chicken wings for us to try. This may have been the best chicken wings I have ever had. I am not being hyperbolic it was awesome. They also have really cool cocktails. I would suggest you come during their happy hour for their food and drink specials.

This was some of the best Asian fusion food I’ve ever had. The decor and setting is really fantastic, with an upscale tavern vibe combined with just the right amount of modern sheik. Service and staff were extremely kind, highly engaging, and helped procure a most wonderful dining experience. The food was 10/10, and I recommend the garlic fries, the dumplings, and the ramen specifically. Definitely check out South Gate for a night of delicious fun!

Cute neighborhood place. But I thought the food needed to have more flavor in my opinion. Food: OK. Very interesting options but not flavorful. The portions were generous so it was good to share. Drinks: GOOD. Good options so definitely a place to hang and have a few drinks. Atmosphere: I loved the outdoor seating. Service was good. Overall: Maybe. I may come back but would only focus on drinks and limit food choices.

This place is special. On a nice corner in Philly and it has one of the top 2 burgers in the city. Right there with Rex. The kimchi burger was so damn good and it was not spicy at all. The kimchi just added flavor. Had the pork bao buns as well which were great. My friends and the ramen and bimpap bowl. They have a pretty good happy hour special and delicious Sapporo on tap. Definitely try it out.
