Dining Car

Trish and Colleen make this place shine the entire staff there are extremely professional and courteous from the moment you walk into the place you know you’re at a local diner and the food never leste you down! The chicken pot pie special was absolutely perfect. Piping hot from the broiler to the table. The iced tea is oracle the best I’ve ever had at any place that being a statement the way it’s brewed makes sense it’s consistent. Also the slice of carrot cake I had was amazing. Moist and super creamy. Everything on this menu has been vetted, the chicken croquette’s are delicious. Come and see for Yourself

I thoroughly enjoyed my breakfast at The Dining Car. I ordered the Sunday breakfast special of French toast with strawberries and bananas. My companion ordered eggs and potatoes that came with yummy bacon . The food was fresh, with the exception of an overripe bananas. Overall, it was a good dining experience.

I had not been here in years and I was very pleasantly surprised! Our server, Mary, was great and she had a wonderful smile! In fact, all the staff was very welcoming to everyone. Our food was very good and reasonably priced! No one rushed us and we had a lot of fun. Afterwards, we stopped at the bakery and got a delicious Orange Crunch cake and an Apple cake! Yummy!

My mom, who passed away in 2019, grew up in the Northeast and always talked about coming to The Dining Car. She used to visit on her own and with HER mother! For whatever reason I had never eaten here...though signs point to me being a stubborn South Philly girl who never leaves her neighborhood. But that's another story... Now that I have snagged myself a Northeast Philly boy, I have seen the light! And the light is that of the Dining Car. What a lovely experience! Not only was the food delicious and comforting, the service was so so lovely. Our sweet waitress gave us free ice cream with our dessert. And hooked us up with little extras here and there. We also saw them singing to and celebrating a 96-year-old customer whose birthday it was. Complete with a candle in a cupcake! I am so happy I got to experience dining at this Philly landmark, especially given how special it was to my family. I cannot wait to come back and enjoy another meal. Thank you for being so awesome and amazing! You've got a fan for life!
