The Breakfast Boutique

The food here is amazing but the service is sub-par so just adjust your expectations. From the outside it looks rather dubious but the food is high quality and innovative. The name definitely fits. This place is leaps beyond the other typical neighborhood breakfast stores. I came early (around 9am) on a Sunday. It's small inside --maybe 10 tables--and most of them were occupied. We chose a table and sat. It took quite a while (about 5 minutes) for someone to come over and take our drink order, about 5 more minutes for the drinks to arrive at which point she told us she wasn't our server so we had to wait again to place our order although we were ready when we sat down. So about 15 minutes altogether to get an order in. I had read reviews (and saw the hilariously captioned empty table pic someone posted) so I was prepared for this. The food came in a reasonable amount of time and was beautifully presented and delicious. I had the shrimp and grits and homefries which were perfectly seasoned, and savory. The shrimp were huge and garlicky and delicious. Highly recommend this dish! My partner had the bluelicious pancakes and beef bacon which were both excellent. I will definitely be back to support this Black owned business.

I've eaten here dozens of times, food is delicious and service has met my expectations. I had originally rated this place 5 stars, however I was quite disappointed at the lack of service that my son and I received today. There was no seating available at the tables however there was no one sitting at the counter and there were 5 open stools. They refused to allow my son and I to eat at the counter during the traffic for walk in orders. EVERY time I dine here there are patrons seated and dining at the counter. If they aren't serving patrons at the counter, they should remove the stools. This is a photo of my son and I seated and eating at the counter in the past. 1 star rating. I took my business around the corner to Sunrise Breakfast. 3 blocks away and the food is satisfying. Some time has passed and I wanted to update my review. I went back and experienced the good service today that I grew accustomed to. I updated my review to 4 stars. They accommodated my party of 4 very well.

I ordered the stuffed French toast and a side of bacon. The French toast stuffing was a delicious cream cheese icing topped with strawberries but the French toast was very dry. If they're going to serve thick slices then it might be a good idea to cut the bread in half and soak them in the batter. The bacon was very crispy which I liked but three strip for $2:50 is very overpriced.

Ordered the shrimp and grits hesitantly because it's rare that I find good cheese grits. These did not disappoint. Flavorful and a great texture. Shrimp were also good. Not overdone. Just right. Service was good as well. Aesthetically and structurally the place itself could be improved. Was hesitant to visit because of how it looked but I'm glad I gave it a try. Good sweet tea as well.

First the good: The food is very good, and the prices are on par with the food. Now the bad: This location has closed, but will be opening in a new location. Also the service is very slow, and some of the staff need to be better trained in customer service. The Breakfast Boutique has two other locations. One location is on Germantown Ave. I just went to this location last week this location is really nice. The space is a lot larger being able to seat a lot more people and once again the food was very good. One thing I will say is make sure you tell them to take it easy on the salt. I can tell from more than one occasion that the cook loves his salt. Other than that the food was really good. I will return.

Not only was meal AMAZING!!! The customer service and the ambiance was superb. Waited a little longer than I wanted to for my food, but when it arrived I understood why. Anyone can place food on a plate and serve it... my breakfast was edible art!! I can not express how impressed I was!! The manager and my server were both wonderful. I wish this business extreme success and I will be sure to support them as much as I can
