Rock Room

When I think of Polish Hill, the Rock Room is one of the first things that comes to mind. Such a great Pittsburgh dive bar, cheap drinks, good/cheap food, and pinball. Perfect place to grab a few drinks fuel up on some pierogies and maybe see a live show, as there is a small venue in the back by the pinball machines. It is smoker friendly so keep just that in mind, either way you should check it out if you haven't been.

Super fun place to hang out! I love the energy inside. This bar hosts a great representation of alternative subcultures and presents itself as a place for freedom of self expression. I’ve gotten to hear a diversity of musicians on the half of the bar which is a live music venue. Can’t wait to come back for more! If you get the chance to, check out the walls while you are inside. Many people who have come through have left their mark in the building.

The people are into death metal and many claim to be witches. They also make great tacos [50 cents] which I have 3 of as well as pierogies (which I ignore). *They have the most disturbing men's room. Random assignments of ethnicity upon entrance bestow free drinks which have nothing to do with the reality of your parents or mine. What is important, though, is the owner will buy you a drink. Then, you can give it to someone else who is actually Greek. The owner looks like someone from a television show you hate to love, and a character you worry about because they put themselves in the way of danger. It reminds me of my favorite city. I've never had a bad or dull experience. The employees are all wonderful, as are the patrons, including the one who looks EXACTLY like Allen Ginsburgh.
