El Torito Taqueria

Had 2 enchilada plates 1 taco plate and some gorditas. Asked for a side order of bisteak Ranchero DIDN'T get it. Asked for veggies from the inside of the tacos and gorditas to be on the side. Veggies didn't make it with the food. I called and get told because it was shredded meat and taco meat (ground beef) it didn't come with veggies! Even when they asked (con todo)! I called and the person that answered got upset.

I went there last night for the first time. I was on a mission to find some awesome tacos and I ended up at el Torito. The cleanliness of the restaurant looked questionable but gave it a try anyway. Ordered some tacos to go and as I was ready to start eating, I saw 2 smashed COCKROACHES on the inside of the white container. 🤢🤮🤢 ☠

I consider myself an expert in authentic Mexican food and tacos, especially street-style tacos. This restaurant is a no-frills, simple place. From the outside you don’t know if they closed the business because the restaurant sign lettering is almost worn out, but they have a lit “Open” sign flashing. I tried the tongue (Lengua) taco and didn’t like it. It tastes very plain, as well as their green salsa. However, the agua de tamarindo drink is very tasty although a bit too sweet.

I really dig this place. If you speak Spanish, perfect; speaking English, still cool. Thus far, I've been happy with the service and food. I never eat in, just order when I arrive, wait, then leave with the order. Typically I use plastic to pay, which they'll charge a % for the transaction. Joints like these do that. So, cash is best. I have it a Three Start because I'm really only assessing the food and cost. All the other particulars of a dining experience aren't applicable to me herein. This place is definitely worth a visit so you can assess for yourself. I always recommend getting a few Tacos and see what they provide. In this way, you can establish a standard order as it relates to other restaurants and what they provide.

I think it’d be pretty hard to find this place without googling “tacos” or something like that. It’s located in a tiny strip mall near downtown Plano and the building itself (especially the outside) is dilapidated. The tacos were good (like just about all street tacos) but didn’t wow me with any flavor. They’re open relatively late which is a plus. Only issue I have with this place is the pricing which has been pointed out by a few people. The difference of $2 or so isn’t much but I really don’t like when I’m charged more than I originally agreed to according to the menu lol (especially when I paid in cash because of their “cash discount”). This review would be 4 stars if not for that. Definitely needs to be fixed ASAP because it’s been going on for awhile.
