Billie's 1890 Saloon

Stick around cause I have a complaint about the service I experienced on Saturday night. I’m not gonna give a bad rating because I believe that this spot is good and the atmosphere is great. I’ve been here a couple times before for a drink and everything was fine. This time though, as I’m walking in the bouncer was laughing and smiling with someone else, like a coworker, then turns to my friend and I super serious. It was awkward because I didn’t feel very welcomed. You go to a bar or restaurant and usually the staff welcomes you, is friendly, smiling and ready to serve you and give you a good experience so that you will want to come back and enjoy your visit. My friend walked in and was looking deeper into the bar, from the front, but he didn’t walk past the bouncer. He didn’t walk in far at all. We stopped at the front to get our IDs checked, but the bouncer like pressed him on the shoulder like “helloo!! Hey!!” As if my friend was walking into the bar and not being cooperative, which wasn’t the case Just very assumptive about us. That’s what it felt like. Not very welcoming or friendly attitude from him. I was leaving and he looked right at me , once again he’s laughing and talking with someone else, but didn’t say anything to me. No bye, have a good night, come again soon, hope you enjoyed your visit. Nothing Should I be begging to be accepted into a venue that should want my business and that should want to give me good service so that they can have me as a consistent customer? Obviously the answer is no. Who would want to go out to somewhere where a staff member makes them feel unwelcome or not good enough to be there? Or not good enough to be kind, friendly and personable toward? Or how about going to a place where you feel like the bouncer is profiling you? Fortunately this guy was the only vibe killer I ran into, throughout the few bars i visited in the entire night

Had a blast. Great wings. Great football games on and great attentive service. Wings were 75 cents btw. How can all of that NOT make for a great time?! Plus, the owner is a terrific gentleman who is very community minded, always wears a big, bright smile, and truly puts 'service above self.' Billie's reflects Billie. (Or is it Billy?) Either way, he and his restaurant areTHE best. Today, (10/14/23) we had the short ribs that were good. But I LOVED my chopped edge salad with blue cheese crumbles , delicious blue cheese dressing, AND, for a little something different, a side of ranch dressing also. One word. YUMMY!

Friendly saloon with large bar with sports on large screens and waiter table service on high-tops serving bar/pub type menu from fish and chips, salads and burgers for starters, but goes beyond with tasty starters and heartier dishes with a Irish bent. Food is top notch and the waiters and bar tenders super friendly.

Had an impromptu dinner at Billie's after a day at the LIM. We ordered a few appetizers to share as our meal: the big pretzel, honey sriracha brussel sprouts, and chicken wings. Pretzel was indeed BIG, and was soft and chewy. The wings were good, but could have been a little crisper (but that may be a personal preference). Brussel sprouts were actually the stand-out dish. So crispy, sweet, spicy, and a little smoky thanks to the chunks of bacon. We could have eaten three orders of just the sprouts, honestly. Service was great, and the atmosphere was very relaxed and cozy.

I sat at the bar, so I could not review the wait service. My friends and I came here after for an app and a drink. I had a delicious amaretto sour. The menu had good options; my friend chose a Reuben, and I a quesadilla. We decided on those instead of apps. You cannot go wrong with a quesadilla, but I tried the Ruben, and it was on point! The customers and bartenders were friendly. And the music was good. I'd define back.

I really like the look of this place. My friend wanted to come for the "old west" aesthetic which the ceiling fan array provides otherwise it feels like a high end bar. The share plate of chicken dumplings came with six and they did not have much flavor. I ordered the Elk's Chicken Burger which came on a English Muffin, I forgot to choose between that and a brioche bun so they decided that without my input. It was a really large deluxe burger and definitely satifying with the optional cheese. I did not get much flavor from the burger though. The english muffin top was grilled on the inside to a crisp it was too hard to form fit with the large burger. My friend had the Land or Sea Ala Vodka, he chose land which is chicken. It came with 4 pieces of Garlic Bread. He was not satisfied with it. Not a lot of meat in the dish and he did not care for the sauce.

Spent time with some family pre holidays to get out of the house. Friendly vibe, both with the regulars as well as the staff. Floors behind bars were cleaned to help the bartenders and attention was paid to all the stools and chairs to keep the place open, tidy, and inviting. There were festive decorations strung about and a good mix of music on the speakers. The place was even kind enough to lower the audio a smidge for my mother who has some trouble hearing. Twice while we were there a roulette-stye wheel came down from the ceiling and was spun to offer discount shots to people, as the bartender Tracy said "whenever they think its fun", and it was! Such a nice little watering hole, my parents might become regulars there!
