Nong's Khao Man Gai

Great hole in the wall find. We tried the classic khao man gai, as well as a few other dishes in our group. Everyone was very happy with their meals, and the sauce is amazing. Luckily they sell it in bottles. Broth was 10/10. Some of us got combo dark and white meat, some got dark only, some got white only. Even the white meat was perfectly tender and juicy. Very home-cooked feel.

07/08/23: the space is a little bit small, but their food is the opposite. The food is super delicious, especially the bitter melon noodle chicken and Khao Man Gai. They have free cold fresh water and tea, which is super great. The view is cozy and chilling. The staff was quick and hospitable. It is a must go place for locals and visitors. I am in love with Thai cuisine now and then

Decent hainan chicken. As expected, chicken is fairly simple and boiled. The sauce is pretty tasty. Pork is also great - cooked for long period of time. The server is pretty attentive and helpful. Environment tries to emulate the South Asia hawker style of eating. My only gripe is the tipping system defaulting at 20, 25, 30%. Seems odd since you bus your own plate.

6 stars! The menu is limited... 5 or 6 dishes. The place looks a little disheveled... I ordered their signature or namesake dish, the Khao Man Gai... it arrived, and I was underwhelmed by its appearance, white rice covered in poached chicken, a bowl of bone broth, some sauce... if you eat with your eyes, you might wish you were Hellen Keller here... BUT the flavors in the sauce are absolutely AMAZING! And they make the entire dish. Would eat here all the time or just buy their sauce if I lived in the area. Worth seeking out!

One of the best Thai places that I’ve ever tried! Their bitter-melon noodle soup was spectacular and not bitter at all. The “Nong Khao Man Gai” was good with skinless chicken but the sauce was a bit too sour for me. According to the bottom of the receipt, they provide health insurance coverage for their workers, which I think is awesome 👏 Will definitely come again! 9/23/2023: Came back to have the noodle soup today. It was spectacular! The broth was so tasty and seemed like complicated. Love it!

Food is consistently okay. Have been visiting for the last five years and the place has gotten progressively dirtier. Not sure what’s with the pressure of “tipping” when there’s absolutely no service or any kind: no one bus the table for you, no on brings the water for you, no one bring sauces for you… restaurants of the city have gotten worse with service- tips for what? To clean my own table before and after eating. Get my own water and condiments? Just add $5/$10 to every order and hire someone do that maybe it’ll help the restaurant stay clean.
