Ruby Jewel Scoops West End

Does this place even need more reviews? I live on the next block which can be a dangerous thing and I have to stop myself from going there every night after dinner. The Oregon strawberry and the salted caramel are perennial faves. These days they have a new flavour - the maple pecan pie and the earl grey - tried those recently and whew they were amazing. I save the cookie sandwiches for special occasions as they can be quite decadent, it's a good idea to mix choose different cookies for the top and bottom, that way you can try two cookie flavours. Locals do not need this information, but if you are visiting Portland, you HAVE to eat this ice cream, forget some of the other pretentious places. Also, there is another ruby jewel store on NW 23rd ave, which is larger and has a big seating space inside. Be sure to check that out too. Can;t wait to bring my family here soon who will be visiting from abroad.

Small shop with lots of nice seating. The selection of ice cream is just the right size, and they let you taste before you buy. Cones are made right in the shop and you can build your own custom ice cream sandwich. Flavors are spot on. You will love this place if you are looking for a bit of ice cream.

Wow!! Seriously one of the best ice cream cones I have ever had! I was in Portland for three days and I went to Ruby Jewel all three days, I couldn’t get enough! The Oregon Turtle was out of this world- had nice creamy brownie chunks within it. Also, they let you try seriously every flavor on the menu which is nice because you can walk away confidently knowing you picked out the best flavor!

We stopped in here by chance while walking downtown. We had planned on getting ice cream at Salt and Straw because it was close to where we were staying, and gladly we did not. This was the best ice cream my family has ever had. I had the rhubarb flavour and it was amazing. We had Salt and Straw near Venice Beach in LA, and Ruby Jewel blew it away. They had build your own ice cream sandwiches that we wished we would have tried because they looked delicious. Must, must try, highly recommend!

Darn good ice cream sandwich. You can choose different cookies for the top & bottom and even have two kinds of ice cream. If you are feeling really wild you cab also add some sprinkles to the exposed ice cream for added protection from the elements. If you weren't full from dinner already you will definitely be full after having this!

Ah-Maz-Ing!!! This has got to be one of the absolute best ice cream places not just in Portland but anywhere. I know everyone says Salt and Straw is a must visit in Portland, but honestly Ruby Jewel is better. Their ice cream is unbelievable and they are famous for their ice cream sandwiches made with their amazing cookies and ice cream. If you are visiting Portland, this needs to be on your list! I promise you will not be disappointed!
