Coquine

Located at the foot of Mt Tabor, is this quaint bottle shop/market/coffee shop. The staff were friendly, attentive and helpful. I tried the Italian hazelnut milk chocolate Guido gobino and seasalt olive oil hazelnut milk chocolates with a cup of delicious Americano. Delicious! Great wine selection, olive oils and balsamic vinegars, amongst hundreds of other tasty delights.

One of the best restaurants, probably in the world, not just in Portland. If you haven't tried the salads at the oyster hour, and the oysters of course as well, you must, you must!! For an exceptional dining experience, you can throw down for the multiple course. Fine dining as well, two separate restaurants and one it's amazing! And as a bonus she has a little market that is open alongside the restaurants as well as in the morning, great pastries, the great sundries, great coffee. I can never say enough good things about this place. Definitely vegetarian friendly.

We went here during the pasta pop up, and wow, this was one of those meals that you can’t stop talking about. The staff was so kind and fun, and each dish came with such a delicious rollercoaster of flavors. Honestly, when we read the menu we were unsure if we would enjoy the dishes, but they were each beautiful. It definitely lived up to the hype.

One of the best meals I've had in Portland. The food was fantastic. Bold, but also simple, clean flavors. The service was attentive without being smothering. The pacing was fantastic. We got the half chicken, which was absolutely succulent. And the server recommended a fantastic, reasonable wine from a winery that might be our new favorite. A quiet, cozy, classy dining room makes for a romantic setting. All in all, an awesome dining experience with fresh, seasonal ingredients and local wines.

Deserving of all its accolades, Coquine is fantastic. Located in an Arts and Crafts storefront, the atmosphere is unpretentious while tasteful and refined. Very well thought out. The attached market has some chef knives to drool over. Our dinner started with some of the best oysters I have ever had, perfectly shucked and presented. Followed with a lovely beet salad then a lovely carrot soup with Dungeness crab. Again, the preparation of the crab was perfect. We moved on to the roast chicken, making good on the principle that if the waiter recommends the chicken, get the chicken! Can't speak to the other meat options, but the chicken is really good. Speaking of meat, the menu is annotated for both vegan and gluten free dishes. We were pretty full, but the meyer lemon tart was a perfect ending.

The best dining experience of my life. We went in November 2021 and took two friends as a wedding gift. We decided to splurge and do the wine pairing. It was so amazing having the sommelier explain the wines with each course and they were some of the best wines I've ever had. Every course was extremely flavorful and unique. We had duck as the main course, which had me worried at first because I have never tried it, but WOW was it good. If you're looking for a place for a special occasion, go here! And good luck getting a reservation!!

We did the four course prix fixe dinner and it was a truly lovely experience. I took the vegetarian option, which was equally well thought-out and included its own wine pairing. The servers were incredibly attentive (but not too attentive!) and the sommelier was incredible- a true storyteller when it came to each wine, and we loved each story! Little touches made it a really great experience, and I thought we received a truly fantastic meal and dining experience for the price. We'll definitely be back when the weather is nicer and we can sit on the patio!

NYTs recently named Portland's Coquine one of the 50 most exciting restaurants in the country. (Although James Beard has been nominating them and their wonderful Chef, since 2016!) The space was small, but darling and the service, absolutely impeccable. We did the Chef's Tasting Menu and wine pairings too. What a revelation. All of it. #worththewait #foodieheaven
