The American Local

Great place for small plates to share. The food is wonderful and the drinks are delicious. The wait staff is helpful and nice. There are shared tables so be nice to your neighbors they might share their sake with you. You can it get by the ounce. You could also sit at the bar and marvel at the chefs.

It was my 1st time in the Portland area in many years, so I dropped in to see what this spot was all about. I am glad I had too because everything went great. One worker named Brett was very knowledgeable and helpful w his suggestions. All of the staff were kind and the atmosphere was a really cool vibe. The food was delicious and the beer cold. 10/10 everything. I'm going to have to put that guy Brett in for a raise. I would definitely recommend and return.

They have such unique items on the menu and create intensely delicious flavors in every dish! Additionally, their extremely friendly and warming staff make it the best environment to eat a meal like one you've never had before! Our server Anthony was especially considerate and inviting with knowledge of the ever changing menu.

Excellent service. The food menu is a motley and interesting collection of different items. I had a fish with red curry that was wonderful. Also a celery root salad that was excellent. They do have items like mac and cheese which I haven't tried but would probably keep everyone happy. If you are the sort of person that thinks when they spend more than 5$ on a menu item that the dish is very large then probably not the place for you. Think along the lines of tapas style dishes.

I noticed that service at The American Local is really great, leaps and bounds higher than similar establishments. The menu serves up drinks abound- draft beer, wine sake, cocktails etc, plus family style plates at a range of sizes. Lots of tapas and drinking food, plus larger plates- looks like an eclectic mix sure to satisfy most cravings. We enjoyed the freshness of the salads (assume farmer's market quality) and all of the seafood options. The roasted oyster were divine. The interior is fun, bright and airy with a casual bar-like atmosphere, a nice addition to the happening Division scene.
