Painted Saints

When this was a pasty place it was wonderful. Then, after less than 6 months (may have even been less than 3) the owners of Chapel Hill decide pasties aren't working out and basically turn this place into Brunch Annex. Not only is this annoying because I loved the pasties, the new menu is terrible. I'm not surprised, the Chapel Hill menu is terrible, too. This is what happens when white people decide to fuse cuisines they have no cultural connection to. The place is still comfortable to sit in and I guess the coffee is fine. The tendency to play terrible music, which wasn't a problem here previously but is a huge problem at Chapel Hill, might drive me away completely. Too bad, this place had food you wouldn't find elsewhere that was actually good, a chill vibe, and a good location. Now it just has a good location.

The staff was nice & the space is ok. But the pasties are frankly not that great. The crust was hard & crumbly and the filling was bland. Not sure if they were cooked too long, but the pasties were like a half-filled crust dome. Didn't help that the pasties were served in plastic baskets that popped up and down while cutting. I wish this place the best, but they're gonna have to do better. Go to Saraveza if you want a quality pasty.
