Five Fifty Five

As we were walking around Portland to find a place for dinner we bumped into 5-55. We had an incredible tasting menu 5 courses dinner with wine pairing and our server Rachel was super attentive, kind and very knowledgeable. We loved all our food choices and definitely the mac & cheese with truffle and lobster tail was one of the highlights. We highly recommend to anyone visiting Portland to stop for a nice meal at a very reasonable price! Thank you for our first Portland food experience

WOW!!!! This was a incredible meal. Everything from the patatoe soup (Best I ever had) the cheese dish with fruit puree was awesome. Nice fresh claims . The Lobster mac and cheese is to Die for. The chocolate souffle with Lemon sorbet was (made my taste buds dance. The service was incredible. The gave you fresh silverware after each course . It is pricey but well worth it. It was my bday and the made me feel very special. We will be back.

My husband and I had our small post wedding reception dinner here. We were able to work with Christina, the event planner to make every detail perfect and personalized for us. She helped us decide on everything from wines to napkins. The four course meal was beautiful and delicious. All of the 12 guests loved their meals. We had a wonderful experience working with this restaurant. The team at five fifty-five helped make our small wedding so special.

My new husband and I came here on our honeymoon. All the research indicated Five Fify Five as #2 in Portland, ME. It is not. There is good wine IF you know what you're looking for. We didn't get any advice, but found a great wine. He ordered strip steak and he enoyed it; cooked perfectly. His app was cavatelli which was AMAZING! We'd be leaving 5 stars if he was the only one eating here. But he wasn't. I had the lobster Mac n cheese. There was a lobster claw in 3 pieces sitting on top. I'd eaten two of the three before I realized that was the only lobster. It wasn't mixed at all and then was left with mac n cheese. Not at all worth $36. The service was very attentive. The chairs are incomfortable. His butt was sore and he limped out. Go. Somewhere. Else. They did, however, help us celebrate with rose and gave is 2 small snickerdoodles. They even gave us a glass of wine when I "mentioned" my issues with the mac m cheese.

One of our Portland highlights - 3 memorable dishes - truffled lobster mac and cheese, cherry pepper mussles and halibut - all 2 die for. Do not leave town with experiencing the mac and cheese or mussles. If you order the halibut use the mac and cheese as your side dish. Service was engaging and open kitchen had me chatting with the chefs. BRAVO 555.
