Free Range Fish And Lobster

Great high quality fresh seafood. The prices are fair, especially in Portland, and unlike going to the supermarket Free Range can always tell you where their seafood comes from. The big guy who manages the place is a bit gruff, but get to know him and he's one of the nicest guys you'll meet, and he knows his stuff when it comes to seafood. If I am in Portland there is no where else I would go for seafood. They also ship, which is a great feature for those from away. And if you want a steamed lobster, but don't want to do they work, call them an hour ahead of time and they will steam it for you! Love this place!

Can’t think of a better way to leave this foodie mecca than with a final stop at FRF&L. They made it so easy to pick with their helpful service, reasonable prices, and easy to pack bags incl. free ice. As others have said, their smoked salmon done in house is excellent! Picked up some nice Nova Scotia mini skrimp and some beautiful fish fillets. Made it all the way home two states over and the fish was still nice and fresh!

From Maine…Purchased a dozen chics to enjoy with friends. The advertised selection for chics is soft shell at 8.99 a pound. They sold me hard shells at 11.99 a pound. I called them to let them know what they did and they said they were out of soft shell. They should have told us. I would have purchased 1 1/4 - 1 1/2 pound soft shells. They just taste so much better. Next time I will shop at Harbor Fish.

FYI, at $14.99# hard shell, it cost more to pick 14oz meat than it would have cost to buy 16oz picked meat! And one of the lobsters was softshell. And the order had been missed, so I waited while it was cooked, (which was ok this time). And the manager said "sorry". Last time I went to pick up my order on the way to the airport and they had forgotten it, so I left empty handed. I'm done here.

I was driving back from Northern Maine and had a very early flight. I wasn't going to be able to get to this place before they closed. But I gave them a call, paid over the phone and Colin, the manager, dropped off my lobsters right down the street at my hotel. What awesome service. I will always get my lobsters from them from now on.
