80s night isn’t the fun time it used to be, it’s just a power trip for the door staff. My friends and I showed up looking like extras from ‘Stranger Things’, some of us in outfits we had successfully worn in before, but the door guy said we had to pay. When we countered that we were dressed for the theme he said that all of our outfits either weren’t the right decade or weren’t involved enough, and that if we didn’t like his ruling then we could leave. Yet the guy in line before us got in for free wearing a 70’s polyester button up, cargo pants, and skate sneakers. Where‘s the consistency? Did 80’s night change to a combined disco/90’s night that was never announced? It also feels like half of the music played on 80’s night is actually from the 90’s, so the whole 80’s theme is pointless. 2 stars instead of 1 because the drinks are still good, the light up dance floor is still as fun as ever, and the newer bathrooms are a great addition.

Meh. The back bar bartenders do a great job and iit's a good place to dance and people watch. It has a strange musty smell and I would dread seeing the inside in full light. I feel as though it hasn't been deep cleaned since 1989. Can be fun if you go with the right people. Security is definitely not trained very well. It's obvious they lack the proper skill sets, the door guy seems to be the exception to this though.

The bouncer is on some sort of power trip. After showing a valid ID/drivers license they would not allow us in. The bouncer admitted to not being able to check fake IDs so I would not be surprised if they let underage people in. This place is sketchy & the bouncer was completely unreasonable & rude. I would never go here or recommend anyone to go here

When I was visiting, I tried most of the dance places in Portland and I always ended up coming back to Bubba's. It is entirely unpretentious with an eclectic and open minded crowd. 3 dance floors.The music was great. 80s on Friday. 90s through today on Saturday. The bartenders were great. I'll definitely come back here the next time I'm in Portland.
