Tokosan

This bar have a great vibe with some creative decor. Umbrellas hanging above the bar accompanied with grafittis on the wall. There's also a small courtyard at the back and even a karaoke room for your functions! Unfortunately the food was not really that good. The takoyaki and negiri was average. The ribs was disappointing as it was lacking any flavour except the meat itself. Food - 5 Service - 7 Vibe - 9 Price - $$$

Enjoyed a nice casual Tuesday night at Tokosan. We came as a group of 6 and advised that we were going to share a number of items. Unfortunately we were not given any indication of how much to order from each section of the menu so it was a bit of a guessing game. Despite being a very quiet night, the staff were inattentive and leaning on the bar chatting to each other. We had to wave to them a number of times to get their attention to order. Once we got around to ordering from the Main section, we chose 3 dishes. We were then told that 2 of them were actually not available tonight. This was very unprofessional and should have been verbalised at the beginning of the night as it would have resulted in more entrees being ordered. The food that was available was very good but the overall experience was unpleasant. In an area with fantastic restaurants and service, it was disappointing to experience this.

I was really excited to go here for my birthday. The $1 oysters were amazing - however the rest of the night was not. There seemed to be only one person taking orders (he seemed under dressed) and I found the restaurant didn't know what it wanted to be. We ordered the over priced Seared Tuna which was delicious all the same. However the most disappointing part was the chips being plonked and ripped open on the table by the waitress - in a paper bag. Sorry but if you're going to charge top dollar for your food this is not the type of service I would be expecting. This venue needs to decide what it wants to be - McDonald's or fine dining... $100 for three people and we still needed to go and grab dumplings afterwards. Disappointing.

Good food let down by poor service. Tried to order a discounted drink at 7pm on the dot which was the end of happy hour and was denied... Not the best way to start a $500 dinner. Food was great with good flavours however it was served in takeaway containers mixed with nice plates... 5 order errors were made over the course of the night pretty average for a place with such nice atmosphere and food... Let itself down unfortunately!

This place is totally under staffed, there were so many people waiting to get drinks with only 3 people behind the bar, you had to wait a really long time. It became so frustrating that you just forgot about it and didn't get a drink. Then we were told we could no longer buy glasses of wine but could buy the bottle, not sure why that was. We ordered food which is the best thing this place seems it has going for it, but at 8pm on a Saturday they ran out of several food items. The place just seemed disfunctional which is ashame because it can be so much better

To start off with I booked a table for 8 with friends for the all you can eat sushi Tuesday night special, I booked a week in advance. They started off by seating us 15 minutes after our booking and waited a further 20 before we got a first taste of sushi, and by taste I mean 3 thinly cut circles. We were all starving by this point, and had to wait another 10 minutes before we were finally given another slither of sushi. They only had one waiter with one platter of sushi for the whole restaurant at this point, which kept running out before everyone had been served, which often would be on the bigger tables, meaning an even longer wait for us, since you had to wait for them to serve you, and the demand was clearly not matching up to the supply from the kitchen. On top of that the rice was clearly old and undercooked, which made it almost unedible. Do not recommend going here, you’re better of going to a fast food sushi place and getting better sushi, more of it and not wasting 2 hours of your time. When we complained to our waitress during the night, she seemed sympathetic but not much was done. When we proceeded to mention this to the man as we were paying at the end of the night, he offered no sort of apologies, was in fact rude about how they can only have a certain budget to make so much sushi on these nights. DON’T ADVERTISE ALL YOU CAN EAT THEN. We probably had about 8-10 small sushi pieces each, not worth $20 or my/your time.
