The decor was tasteful and the amenities provided were adequate for a comfortable stay. I appreciated the attention to detail in terms of cleanliness and maintenance, as the room was well-maintained and appeared to have been recently updated. The location of the Derby Arms was also a highlight of my stay. Being situated in the countryside, it offered a serene and peaceful environment, away from the hustle and bustle of city life. The surrounding scenery was breathtaking, providing a perfect setting for a leisurely stroll or a relaxing evening in the outdoor seating area. However, my experience at the Derby Arms was not without so. As a food lover, I was looking forward to trying the fish and chips, a classic British dish. Unfortunately, I was underwhelmed by the quality of the dish. The batter was more like a Yorkshire pudding mix than traditional fish batter, and it was quite greasy. To make matters worse, the fish was only battered on one side, resulting in an uneven texture and flavor. It was not the best fish and chips I've had, and I was left disappointed. The service at the Derby Arms was decent, but it lacked the warmth and enthusiasm that I would have expected. The staff was professional and efficient, but interactions felt a bit flat and lacked the personalized touch that can elevate a dining experience. On a positive note, the Derby Arms has been listed as a 4-star establishment by the AA (Automobile Association). However, based on my personal experience, I would rate it more as a 3.5-star establishment. While the rooms were spacious, clean, and modern, the disappointing food and lackluster service brought down the overall experience for me. In conclusion, the Derby Arms in Preston, Lancashire offers spacious, clean, and modern rooms in a beautiful countryside setting. However, the food quality and service fell short of my expectations. If you are looking for a peaceful retreat in the countryside and prioritize room quality over food, the Derby Arms could be a decent choice. However, if dining experience and service are important to you, you may want to explore other options in the area.

Great place to stop, rooms are really good. We had a room at the front and so a little road noise but not enough to really be an issue. Our arrival could have been a little better, we felt like a slight inconvenience to staff and one night we arrived back to hotel just after it was closed up for the evening. This meant we had to access via the back using a code, there wasn't any light and it wasn't obvious how to get to the back door plus it had been raining alot so it was extremely muddy and I nearly slipped over because I couldn't see the ground. That being said we would definitely return, the rooms were lovely and they are dog friendly too. 😊 Breakfast was included and was absolutely delicious 😋.
