Godwins Fish And Chips

I go here infrequently but the food has taken a recent rise in quality. Chips are first class. I think the addition of the chip van on Kingsfold drive and it's utterly tasteless chips has made them up the game here. They're friendly the food is good it's accessible what else do you want it's a chippy? 😃

I'm editing my review from last year because I've just been in to get fish and chips for the first time since that review and it looks like the place has had an overhaul. I'm just eating fish chips peas and curry sauce now and it's absolutely beautiful 👍👍👍 Godwin's used to be the best place around for fish and chips. There were very few people there and I wondered why. However when we got home we soon realised exactly why - it was probably one of the worst fish and chips we had. The whole meal was cold very salty, no vinegar, the chips were very small, more like bits, and the cheese and onion pie was about an inch thick. The fish was stuck to the paper so when I tried to put it on the plate it all fell apart in pieces. Even the sausage I got for the dogs was cold. I would have brought it back but I couldn't be bothered and we wouldn't have been offered anything better anyway. No wonder there was no queue. I would just like to add it was a disgrace that we had to wait outside in the cold when there was plenty of room away from the hatch where you had to order and there were no customers there anyway!
