The Ancient Oak

Husband ordered mixed grill, I had a selection of startes, and daughter had a munchie sundae. Husband said it's one of the best mixed grills that he has had at the Oak for a long time, and finished everything (this is unusual as he normally leaves various items which we take home and the dog eats well) Daughter said her munchie sundae also had flake in it, which she didn't mind, however was this a substitute for munchie pieces? My combo starters, 2/3 were great. The mushrooms are too oily, not sure what the fix is here, but they were light, not too hot, and mushrooms inside were well cooked. Only slight gripe, we didn't get a check-back. We were asked when collecting our plates if "everything was ok, and asked to leave a review" it's too late at this point to fix any problems. Check-backs should shortly follow delivering the meals.

Good atmosphere. Great for a drink. Staff are really nice and friendly try their best. Food is typical pub food which is what you want when you go here, however it's been dry and not very good the last few times we've been. Still were hoping it gets better. Service takes a while, too. All in all a nice place and atmosphere.
