Casse-croute Chez Gaston

My last meal in Quebec City before flying back to Toronto had to be poutine (of course). This place was close to my hotel and fortunately did not disappoint. Squeaky cheese curds and addictive gravy. Their fries are a little burnt, but that’s their style and I don’t mind it as it adds an extra dimension to the dish (as noted in an earlier review, some don’t like their fries this way). Pictured is the “Gaston” which has onions, ground beef, and hot dog slices in it. If you don’t want protein, stick with the original or with onions only. Small place so takeout is a good option as it could get crowded inside. Courteous staff. Fair prices. What’s not to like? Bon appetit!

Stopped in for poutine based on Google reviews, and we weren't disappointed. Unpretentious, friendly service, delicious food. Off the beaten path so not fill of tourists. There are two high tables with stools that seat 4 each, plus two spots to sit and eat at the counter. The second largest poutine was enough for two to share and came with lots of delicious squeaky cheese curds and gravy. I tried the St-Roch burger and it was also great. Juicy beef patty with spicy sauce and fresh lettuce and tomato. I think the Brie melted too quickly for me to see it.

Me and my friend visited from Montreal. It's a local restaurant. Very friendly staff. There is Kim and Véro. Both were very generous, smiley and fun to dine in their presence. The food was awesome. Hot and fresh, delicious and filling. They gave us free fries too. I will definitely visit again when I come to Quebec city 😄
