D And S Cafeteria

I've been going here for I believe 35 years now (including the 1st location off of blue ridge rd). Like everything else, inflation has caused the meals to go up around 30%, but you still get the same portions of the same great food. I've been getting the turkey & dressing and coconut cream pie, since the beginning, and it taste the same now as back then. I would say to expect for an average meal to cost $10-$13. Interior is a bit dated, but the place is clean and the service friendly.

I had the opportunity to visit D & S Cafeteria while attending a graduation. I found the establishment very clean, there was a Hugh selection of food available. I purchased two meals, one eat in and one to go. The staff / servers/ hostess were friendly, clean and very pleasant while serving their guest. We ate inside the dinning which was VERY CLEAN, spacious and pleasantly cool. I observed the owner greet his guest to get feedback from his customer / customer satisfaction survey I suppose. It didn’t appear that anyone had any negative complaints. I noticed that EVERYONE eating had a smile on their faces. Many people were observed making additional take out orders . I too made a take out order. The Food was ABSOLUTELY HEAVENLY DELICIOUS. Economically priced and worth much MUCH MORE. Great COOKS, GREAT HOSTESS, GREAT OWNER! I HIGHLY recommend D&S cafeteria for all your meals, dine in or carry out. Love this place. I recently made an additional trip (3 hour drive) to D&S just to enjoy the ambience and food again.

I forgot to take a picture before I devoured my food. I got the fried chicken it was hot fresh moist and delicious it was delicious ,as was the hot fresh fried okra. The rice and gravy were fantastic. Since it was Mother's day the atmosphere was awesome and energetic.The waitress was sweet and friendly and she made sure we had everything we wanted and needed. I will be goin back soon. I won't forget the pictures next time.

This was our 2nd visit to D&S and we really love their food. Last time, I got the pork chops and decided to try the fried chicken today. Their vegetables are very good and so is their cornbread. While it is a little far from us, they came highly recommended by a family friend. The recommendation we requested was a black restaurant with good meat and vegetables in neighboring cities outside of Durham to patronize during #BlackHistoryMonth. It was so good, we went two weeks in a row.

No comparison. Food is ALWAYS amazing and the service is always above and beyond. We often do take out from D&S and we always check the plates before pulling off but they have yet to be missing items. They also package the food very well/thoughtfully, saran wrapping items with lots of grease or liquids. We love this option for family gatherings because everyone can get exactly what they want. They also make it easy by telling us the price of each separate meal; then we pay on one check but can give our exact cost of meal to the family member who paid. We ate here for my wedding rehearsal dinner in 2016 because I love it that much. Gave each person a D&S gift card and they were able to get exactly what they wanted then a section of the restaurant was blocked off for us and we were able to decorate those particular tables. It was perfect. Definitely our family's favorite.

The food was wonderful however I think we received the worst server in the place. She never came over and when she did she was upset we asked for straws. Next I had to go to the take out area to ask for togo boxes. Not sure why they would hire people like that it makes you not even want to come there.
