Best BBQ in the Capitol city of a dedicated BBQ state?-how ironic. This national chain that started in Ohio offers great Q at a good value. An oddity of getting great BBQ in Raleigh is how hard it is to find. Lots of mediocre stuff. We avoided this place for a long time because of origins and the fact that it is a chain. Now it's our go to spot for Q. Great smoky flavor. Friendly staff and reasonable prices. Hand cut fries, tender and thin batter around fried okra. Highly recommended.

My experience with city barbecue on 12-16 was a 10/10. I entered the store after a very long day at work, I was tired, frazzled, and hangry. I expected to pickup an order that was placed online by my husband..long story but the hubby never placed the order. I was greeted by JoJo, he was so understanding--treated me with kindness in my frazzled state, got my order taken and filled so quickly. JoJo was phenomenal!! The staff working that night were all so friendly, and kind. It was just a great customer experience. My food was delicious, and my order was 100% correct. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Been a while since I had been to this location but I must say service was night and day from previous visits. Not that it was particularly bad before, but whoever is managing or shift managing now seems to have much more of a focus on customer service, which is the entire name of the game. Manager that night made sure, what I'm assuming was a newer employee, made sure to give me one of the bigger to go sauce containers, instead of the small cups, since I had ordered a pound of meat.

Went to one of these in Clayton/Garner area years ago -- so we stopped here for a birthday celebration. Staff was so kind and helpful ☺️. The barbecue brisket was delicious and we bought many sides and desert. It was a wonderful experience. We have of course been back there. Last time we visited they gave us free desert. Wow! Highly recommended restaurant.
