The Pickled Onion Restaurant & Bar

I loved the atmosphere. They have a great variety of food to choose from. Everything I saw coming out around us looked amazing as well. My dad got the fish and fries and coleslaw with tartar sauce. He said it was the best piece of fish he had tasted in a long time. I did taste the fries and tartar and they were both good, and the slaw looked tasty as well. I had the Chicago Beef sandwich with jalapeño Mac n cheese. The sandwich was just okay for me, but I also take into account that I typically wouldn't order that type of sandwich and I was wanting something warm and the au jus is what sold me on it and that part was good. The Mac was good; I have had betteri like really creamy Mac, and this was baked. Also, I never tasted any jalapeño. My overall complaint would be that we ordered Nachos for an app, and after waiting 15 minutes or more, I finally asked about them. The portion was small for the price. They were cold and soggy. I am a bit of a Nacho snob, so a lot of times, you can sell your next visit on me with your appetizer alone if you excel in the nacho department. They need work here with the Nachos. I would go back, but I don't think I would get what I ordered again.

We are regular customers. The food is always good, and the service is top notch. Regarding service, one of the great ways they operate is that they have a team approach. All servers are constantly checking on all tables. You’re never neglected or forgotten about. Full bar with cold, draft beer and lots of TVs for watching your favorite game.

Sport bar restaurants are not our go to places to eat.my wife and I enjoyed our food .we both had the onion soup. I got fish and chips. My wife got a Mac & cheese with Buffalo chicken piled in the center. That brings me to my peeve with a sports bar. Every inch of every wall is covered with a silenced TV, most of which have a talking head. There were a few wood games also muted. What's the point?

We ordered takeout and had a drink while waiting. Ordering was easy but the notification it was ready didn't get to me until after the kind bartender checked and we arrived home. The food was worth the aggravation! The jalapeno Mac and cheese is recommended. I will surely return but as friendly as the staff are, it will be takeout again. This place is a bit too cramped for me.

I used to rate this place as excellent, but since the pandemic, they're not giving the same portions of food, but charging MUCH higher prices for it. Lots of the good servers have left. You still get decent service, but not as friendly. At least the food tastes the same. This is also the ONLY restaurant I know of that CHARGES a SURCHARGE for using a CREDIT CARD! How tacky can you get?
