Fish Hook

I googled "Best Fish & Chips Randburg" and Fish Hook Traditional Fish & Chips came up. I phoned in my order and collected it 15min later. The last time I had such good fish & chips was when I was a kid some 50-odd years ago! The large portion of hake was fresh and really large (not medium wannabe large as is often the case these days), the crispy batter was not at all soggy - even after driving back home for 15 minutes after picking up my order. The chips were just right and didn't taste of old used oil. I will most certainly go back to try their calamari too! THUMBS UP & THANK YOU!!!

Dinner under R100 - yes, please! 28/9/2023 A gym friend told me this shop have best 'slap chips'. I craved a fish cake, since Fishaways stopped making theirs. A few weeks ago I stopped in at Fish Hook, but they didn't have any fish cakes in supply. Just before 5 pm today we stopped there - they had Fish Cakes!!! I ordered 2 of these big cakes (R33 each) and they tasted heavenly! Could see and taste the parsley in it - tastes homemade, since they obviously are!!!! Oooo, what about chips, I said to hubby. Yes, lets. Small chips for R40 please. MY EYES POPPED! A huge portion of chips - absolutely fabulous, drizzled with (we're sure it's brown not white vinegar) and salt. Stuck in peak traffic on our way home, no problem - I fed hubby chips and fish cake, while I nibbled as well. It was fantastic! Can't wait to try their fish!!!!!

Little place, nothing fancy . Cleanliness maybe can be improved. Then again , it's a takeaway and that's all . Goodin the other hand , traditional fish and chips which I found difficult to source somewhere else. Tasty and wrapped in paper . They happy to oblige with any reasonable request . The calamari not bad , but I'll pass next time . The Russians are of a debatable quality and insanely salty . I'll stick with the fish and chips . Overall , a nice little place with tasty food .

Exceptional service! Friendly staff/owners! Got my fish and chips under 10 minutes and it was delicious and huge portions (We ordered medium fish and medium chips with a tartar sauce for R145 - massive bargain). Update: so we didn't finish our food because of being so full, but guys, if you have an airfryer and you reheat/airfry your leftovers... Amazing! Tastes just as fresh and crispy as the day you bought the meal! I'm very impressed because lots of fishy foods never taste as good the next day, and my leftovers tasted amazing! Very impressed! 👏👏

A hidden gem nestled away in Darrenwood, serving fresh fish and chips, done old skool style. Batter light and golden, enveloping the delicate fish, resting on a very generous bed of 'slap' chips. Hake succulent and chips flavourful. Definitely phone ahead to place your order. Although there is a small outside table for seating, rather enjoy your order at home. The fish is off the hook!

Fantastic Fish and chips. Excellent when there is load shedding at home and need to collect some dinner on the way home. It is just so good that you cant stop eating the chips and the fish is always fresh. The Calamari is also good and I like to have mine cook just a little longer for crisp and crunchy bite.
