King Buffet

Pretty good buffet , except for the price, about $16 lunch inc tax and a little tip. That's getting up there, but I guess what else isn't? The food is fresh, just get here at 11:00 am when they open and don't complain that the food is old when you arrive 30 min before closing, cause no they ain't gonna make fresh food on all the trays just for you. What you CAN do is just ask for fresh food of the dish you want, and they'll make it for you right outta the kitchen, I did that once!

Charged us 3 times for hot tea simply because we asked for 3 little cups to split ONE order of tea. 6 whole dollars for some tea. Tried explaining to the staff that we only had the ONE order of tea & that the amount brought to us is the exact same regardless of how many cups we ask for. If only one of us had asked for one pot of tea, the amount that they would have brought out was EXACTLY the same as the quantity for “3 cups”. Apparently they charge by the cup & not by the pot like every other sane place around here. Staff is also unreceptive & does not understand the reasoning & flawed policy logic when you try to explain the issue with them.

UPDATE: KING BUFFET is still open, but prices have gone up. $14 lunch and $17 dinner. add tax and a little tip and dinner is a $20 buffet ... not really worth it anymore. Buffet is self serve now. Masks required. UPDATE: KING BUFFET IS OPEN AGAIN! Yippee! $11.99 lunch and $13.99 dinner. All the same great food. Yes wear a mask and sanitize hands! The big difference now, is you will be served from the buffet by a server behind the buffet steam tables, THERE IS NO SELF SERVE! I can see this causing a little backup in the future when the place gets busy. You go to the start of the buffet, even though what you want might be all the way at the other end. Communication is a little prob as the servers understand little English, so basically is a point at the dish and they serve you, but it's hard to tell them how much of the dish you really want. It helps if you speak Chinese, but I don't so there you go. The booths are separated by a high glass barrier now, so the only social distancing will be for the open tables. As far as state rules on making reservations for indoor dining, there was no prob here, just show up, but I suppose they are still regulated to 25% occupancy, but it's a big place and there were few finines when I visited. As for the food, it was about the same as before. The chicken wings are great, the whole steamed fish is wonderful ... get there early ... the server gave me the whole dang fish! All the regular staples are there, like noodles, fried rice, egg rolls and various stir fries. They is seafood for lunch too. I really like the food here, so peeps that get here at off times might not like it as well. You have to have realistic expectations, this is an inexpensive Chinese buffet! I'll come here again, it's better than the Chinese buffet in Carson City for just 2 bucks more.

If I could give them minus 10 stars I would!The most disrespectful place and the nastiest!! PLEASE NEVER GO HERE! The food had maggots and they made me pay and told me to never come back as if I had placed this nastiness in my plate! I will be calling the health department! Save yourself the disappointment and disgust! This place should be closed forever!!

Very dissatisfied with this place. We went in knowing it would mostly be just another mediocre buffet. I don't have high expectations, I just expect the food to be lukewarm, and semi decent, nothing crazy. I also know the food is prepared in mass, and usually your warmest food should be on the bottom of the pan. I didn't have a single warm bite of food other than what came directly off the grill. Noodles, rice, chicken, chicken on a stick, egg roll, spring roll ALL COLDER THAN ROOM TEMPERATURE. When I got to paying I asked the person is there anything you can do or discount because of all this (allowing them an opportunity to make things right). I said I don't expect a free meal that's not what I'm after just take a little off of one of the meals. I was told no because I ate the food (I ate one bite out of various things I sampled, that's how I know it was cold). I was then told I should have told someone everytime I came across something that was cold, so in other words I should have stopped after my first bite, get up to say something, get a different item, do the same thing, and then repeated this process an additional 7 times. I will never be back and for $16 per person for lunch you are way better off going to a steakhouse or hibachi for lunch. Don't go here.

I agree to most of the poor comments given to this company. The food menu hasn't change. The price is too high for a very regular food. The waiters and waitresses have a very non professional attitude when serving you but they sure can't wait to take your money when it's time to pay. They are mostly spending their time at the register to take your payment and expect that you will give them tips and less time to serve you at the table. I can assure you that there are a lot of better oriental restaurants out there than this place. I feel embarrass for the out of state visitor to come eat here. With this comment, I am hoping that the owner will see this and realize that his business need a lot of better changing and supervision!

We've been coming to King Buffet for years and their food is consistently DELICIOUS!!!! The people who work here are super nice. We recently came in close to the closing time and they made an exception and allowed us to take to go boxes, something we never expected. I would never expect them to regularly offer this, but their kindness was incredible so I tipped them very, very well!!! My favorite are the mussels with cheese. goddddd. Really so juicy, soft, and savory. And the shrimp that are breaded. the Chicken eggrolls, the beef with broccoli, just divine. The one small thing is, they don't have a great variety of desserts, maybe they could expand their dessert options, like include those little coffee cakes other buffets have. Overall, totally try this place, it's good, very good. The food is fresh, hot, and savory. It's fun to make your own plate with the wide selection of foods. Thanks China Buffet and see you soon.
