Stopped by Steak 'n Shake for lunch in Richmond. Very few patrons in the restaurant. Walked in...was greeted by a SIGN saying to place your order and pay at kiosk. This was our 1st time inside a Steak 'n Shake in awhile. Several kiosks were spaced out at entrance. Kiosks was pretty easy to navigate and pay. A self serve drink station had been installed. Restaurant was FREEZING COLD!!!!! Saw maybe 5 employees, total, the entire time we were there. NO SERVERS!! Grill guy brought out our food. Same one that cooked it. The pandemic has hit this place hard! Food was your usual good Steak 'n Shake cheeseburgers and fries. Chocolate milkshake and strawberry milkshake were great...except that it was sooo cold in that place. Couldn't wait to get outside and warm up....and this was the middle of Nov.

Worst experience ever in a steak and shake. Now it’s card only and u have to order urself on a box. Nothing easy about it. Took us 20 mins just to order our food. No waiters no nothing. Food isn’t much anymore. Our food took 30 mins to get. Don’t waste ur time. Too hard to order and too hard to pay with cash.

Hadn't been since the pandemic started but this company has adjusted amazingly well. It's odd without servers at your table but I really like the way they have made the adjustments. The manager and other lady who checked in on us were very hospitable and we appreciate you all. Great job.. 👍👏

Food was good. But menu didn't have any chicken anymore? The menu is to small. Restaurant looked clean as long as you don't really look in cracks and crevices , bathrooms and under tables. Everything just seemed old and uncared for. I miss how great steak'n shake use to be.

Used to be a great place to eat. Now You can't get a burger with cheese and ketchup only. This what you get when you order cheese and ketchup only. Not the first time either, just the last. So sad because I loved their food but enough is sadly enough.

We were traveling through and placed our carryout order on the computer when we arrived. A few minutes later our drinks were ready. Then we waited another 25 minutes and asked about our order after several others received their food. They said our order somehow got lost and the computer had done that a couple times lately. They asked our order number and somehow found our lost order so they could hurry up and make it. They didn't offer refund or any kind of comp for our inconvenience other than a free soda if we wanted. We waited over 35 min for our to go order.

Everything is DIFFERENT and not for the better! You order on a kiosk when you go in, you get your own drinks, condiments, napkins all from the front counter yourself (ketchup/napkins used to sit on the tables). The fries were cold and the meat was way overcooked. It just doesnt have the same welcoming atmosphere as before! I understand with Covid and all the changes that are necessary but this has completely taken Steak 'n Shake downhill.

Sandwich and fries were served fresh and as ordered. Prices much, much better than other burger restaurants, especially for the excellent quality of the meal. Generous with basket of large fries. My favorite burger joint for many years.
