After Heaven’s Bakery closed in Napier, the search seemed never-ending for the long cream filled donut with a spot of raspberry jam on top. Finally being able to find it at Patrick’s gave me such a thrill like an emended weight lifted off my shoulders. Their pies are definitely worth all the accolades and hype. The bakers here really work had to provide consistent quality and deliver typical baked New Zealand goods. Well done.

Can get very very busy here at times, being close to all the industrial area as well as being on a main state highway, so pick your times wisely. There is parking next door at the liquor shop.
There are so many different pies to choose from. You got your classics through to some gourmet style combination pies, that are sure to appeal to everyone. I still go back to the classics, mince and cheese, steak and mushroom, potato top, bacon and egg…can’t go wrong!

Not too bad however we rocked up on the back end of the day. The inside of the Mince and Cheese was good however the pastry was a bit soft

Had to try the Bakels Supreme Roast Duck, onion and mushroom pie for $8.90. A steady stream of customers are buying Patricks pies but also try his fabulous fresh cream donuts

The pies were amazing and hot and there was a lot of choice.
As a tourist I really got a sense of what the pie culture is about here. It was amazing.

Love the variety we can get here. My favourite is the Custard Pie, closely followed by the Sweet Lamb Curry Pie and the Garlic Prawn Pie. YUM!
