Got a chance to talk to one of the chefs although he is not an actual chef. The stars are the meat without question. Sides are good but they won't compete with the meats. If available, get the pastrami. Better than any I've ever had. It's cafeteria style so service isn't really full. Atmosphere is very appropriate. The space has been updated but hasn't lost its charm.

I haven't been here for a while, I forgot how fantastic the food is and the huge quantities of food that they serve. I will definitely be going back soon.

I have no words for what an amazing visit we had!! First off, the staff was so warm and genuinely friendly. They really made our night by just being so welcoming, and were so helpful with any questions we had. Secondly, the food was DELICIOUS! Our picky eater 7 year old CLEARED his plate! He was so into watching the carving station, and he really appreciated being asked if he'd like white/dark/half of each on his turkey. My husband got the French dip, and ended up drinking his au jus after he fished. 😂 We were so impressed! And let's talk about how clean everything was in there!! They're on top of everything, and we can't wait to come back again. THANK YOU STAFF FOR A GREAT DINING EXPERIENCE!

Great old Sacramento eatery with satisfying, old fashioned, meals. During Covid, the menu is reduced, but pull up a hay bale in the shade, with your roast beef or pastrami, and enjoy a little bit of early Oktoberfest ambiance in their outdoor eating space. UPDATE - They just keep improving and are really making this work, with drive through service, more sheltered outdoor seating, and reliability hearty and delicious food, if a somewhat streamlined menu. I've become a regular!

Friendly staff, kind and courteous, quick service. The food is amazing. Definitely worth the trip. It's a cafeteria style restaurant, but the quality of the food is amazing. I had the pastrami dipped in a ju and it was so flavorful. I dream about it still.

Best Pastrami you’ll ever have! This is a unique Sacramento institution that you just try. A variety of meats and sandwich options, plus delicious sides... all made fresh.
