Bows & Arrows

Part vintage shop, part art space, part cafe - Bows & Arrows is all those things. What a surprise to also find the writeup in Sunset Magazine too! I think it was the October or September 2011 issue. Having been here three times already, finally tried out the happy hour, from 4:00 - 7:00. You get a choice of three items for $4: sangria, chips & homemade salsa or the bruschetta. Personally, I recommend their popcorn. For $3, you get a small paper bag filled with curry-flavored crunchiness. Their regular menu serves up various beers and wines. They also feature a wine of the month. This month was a white French varietal from the area bordering Switzerland. You can also get popsicles (!!!) and sandwiches. Their outside patio is a hodge podge of seating options complete with lots of potted plants, a fountain and the Light Rail that whizzes by every so often. Kind of gives it that urban edge, like you're hanging out in someone's backyard which backs onto the train tracks. Inside, my favorite table is the old fashioned Singer table: two pedal-style sewing machines missing the sewing components but is flanked on top with a slab of wood. Unique, while recycling classic pieces. So glad Sacramento offers up a refreshing alternative to chains. I hope it's here to stay. Have a beer here and support local businesses!
